Terrified!

Hi, I’m really scared right now.  I’m a 42 year old female.  About 9 months ago I had a dull right side pain in abdomen that felt like a stitch.  Doctor couldn’t feel anything.  I also had another pain upper right abdomen and had an ultrasound scan for gallstones.  All clear.  Nothing much happened for months except niggly pains, some night sweats and some digestive issues.  Now my abdomen feels tight I can feel several small lumps about pea size and the doctor felt them too.  They are painful.  Doctor gave me antibiotics and said they are fat lumps.  However my pains are getting worse, I have a fever on and off, night sweats and more lumps are just popping up in abdomen.  I am terrified right now.

  • Hi there ...

Well if I were you I'd make another Drs appointment with a different Dr ... preferably a female Dr.. tell them you want it looked at closer as there's more .. and be firm not aggressive ... coz we know our own bodies ... and if it's telling you something's not right then go back ... it's your health ... yes hopefully it's nothing .. but should be looked into .. maybe ask for a scan ...

Hope that helps ... let us know how you go ...  Chrissie x

  • Hi. Did u ever find out what the lumps are? I'm in the same boat and terrified :-(

  • Hi, saw a gastroenterologist and had an MRI scan nearly 2 years ago now.  I also had ultrasound scan blood tests etc.  Lots of doctors said they don't even show up on scans and are fat lumps.  I have lots more now than I did.  Most are pea sized.  Haven't seemed to have grown but just a lot more of them.  Occasionally they hurt or are tender but I mostly ignore them.  I do still worry a bit though which is natural.  I was diagnosed with functional dyspepsia by the gastroenterologist.  (I also had a camera down prior to all this).  A friend of mine said that her brother had loads of small lumps over abdomen which you see as he's very slim!  He's had them for years.  Ask for a scan if you are worried.  Best wishes  :)

  • Hi, thank you so much for replying to me. What your saying is EXACTLY the same as me!!!!  Lots of lumps, some pea sized and some a bit bigger, I get a bit of nausea and niggly pains all over my abdomen in various places. Right now I have a little lump top right side of my belly button and it's sooo tender, quite painful when I press on it and I keep getting a dull ache there. I get intermittent nausea too and like you have some digestive issues. I was also diagnosed with a severe b12 deficiency (which I know can cause digestive issues). I'm so paranoid about these lumps, and because I'm paranoid I am feeling all  over my body and I swear I can feel more lumps. But it's probably just fatty tissue or something. All my blood tests are normal apart from my b12 deficiency & slightly elevated liver enzymes which have come down a lot now so doc thinks is "just a bit of fatty liver". Did you get breathless or have any funny turns? Sometimes I can feel quite unwell but then suddenly I get better. Thankfully I'm seeing a gastro consultant on Tuesday so should hopefully get more answers then. I just hope they are all just fatty lumps and nothing more !!

  • Only if my asthma is playing up!  Usually though it's a sign of panic, anxiety, hyperventilating etc.  I was nauseous with worry like you at the time so know how many symptoms anxiety can present with.  Let me know how you get on.

  • Yeah I have anxiety and hyperventilation symdrome too, so it seems we are like two peas in a pod!! Ok I will keep you posted. Take care!

  • I am currently going through the exact same thing.

I have numerous lumps on my right side and a stitch like dull ache there. I seen the GP yesterday who made an appointment for me to have bloods done on Friday and referred me for an ultrasound which he said could take 6 weeks.

My biggest issue at the moment is since seeing the GP my anxiety and worry is through the roof and now I'm getting a pile of symptoms I didn't have before going to the GP. So I feel that are more likely due to stress than anything else to be honest.

honestly in the last 24 hours I've had muscle pains, chest pains, fatigue and loss of appetite - none of which I had before I seen the GP :confused::confused:

I guess it's all wait and see now.

    how are you doing both?

  • Bless you! I know exactly what you mean as I’m the same! I worry about every single ache or pain, it’s a nightmare. I’m doing ok just got a lot of pain in my back this evening. I saw my gastro consultant yesterday who done a full abdominal examination and couldn’t feel the lumps I was talking about, but I’m convinced he’s missed them. I can still feel them. They are more prominent if I push my stomach out or tense it. There’s so many though that’s what worries me. Hopefully it’s nothing. But I keep getting awful stomach chest and back pains which makes me fear the worst. The good thing is, apart from Vitamin B12 Deficiency (which I am being treated with injections for) and slightly elevated Liver Enzymes (which the gastro consultant isn’t at all worried about) nothing has showed up on two lots of blood tests that I’ve had. All normal. Thankfully the consultant has referred me for an ultrasound of my liver, gallbladder, pancreas & kidneys which will be either next week to the following week. If that’s all fine then I’ll have an endoscopy. Like you it’s just a waiting game now. I’m so worried. I’ve also noticed lots of lumps in my boobs but I have always had quite lumpy breast tissue anyway so I think maybe I’m just overthinking things now. I hope you are ok and get some answers. Keep me posted hun x
  • Hi, so I literally only started feeling the pain since the new year and it took what seemed like forever to see the doctor. I can feel a few lumps there but it's the one that I feel that's quite large is my biggest worry. And the fact that my side is super painful if poked and prodded. And otherwise it's just a dull ache.

weirdly tonight I'm having more pain on my left side than my right side which is odd. The anxiety for me is the worst. Trying to find ways of coping with the waiting. Will have blood results by next Friday so let's keep our fingers crossed that it's all okay.

  • Hi, how are you getting on?? Did you get your blood results? Hope you're ok! I have my abdominal ultrasound on Tuesday I'm soooo worried !! xx
