Biopsy of mouth

Hi I've had an excision of an inch long lump in my mouth. 2 weeks for results.

The lump was in the cheek and I expected some swelling - I'm basically a one sided hamster;)

But inside the lump feels huge (and looks huge and very red) its between my teeth now and so painful.

I just wondered if anyone had had the same and this was all normal?

I had the OP on Monday

Thanks everyone

  • I noticed you hadn't had a reply yet Eiger so I just thought I'd quickly stop by to see how your recovery is going since you made this post. I do hope it's starting to go down and looking less sore but you may have to hang on in there for a little while whilst you wait for your mouth to heal.

Hopefully some other members who have had a similar procedure will be along soon to share their experiences with you but if you are worried don't be afraid of getting in touch with your medical team to get peace of mind.

    All the best,

  • Thank you Steph!

It's  still extremely sore and I can't eat other than soup and yogurt. But it's only been a week tomorrow so I'm hoping it will start to improve. I might see the GP just so they can have a look and reassure me it's 'normal' I was concerned the stitches might have come out and that's why the fleshy lump is so large. It's got a very metallic taste too which is yuck! Unfortunately my consultant is on holidays this week and I don't see him until the 14th.
