Awaiting Results

Hi Guys :)

New to the forum, thought id join as needed a wee outlet to speak with those who are possibly having the same stress & worry as I am and understand it from my point of view as those I speak to everyday don't seem to get it. If that makes sense.

For approximately 3/4 months ive had a whole host of symptoms.  I wasnt sure what to attribute them to.  I suffer with Pernicious anemia with (Subacute combined degeneration of spinal cord after being untreated)  so assumed some was possibly symptoms of that.   But as I went on I started thinking something else is going on.

So firstly called my private health care and spoke with 24/7 GP on phone and explained my symptoms and they advise me to visit my own GP.  to which I have done however it took a number of weeks to get an appointment to which ive been very worried and stressed.

There was a little concern with symptoms I presented and I was refered straightaway for chest X-ray.  And will be having blood tests, FBC, thyroid function etc.

Ive had - a cough for months that won't shift, my memory has been awful day to day, sweating alot espcially at night, englaged lymph nodes in my neck, and under left armpit which are hard and don't move, gradually getting bigger also - ive not had any infections/virus that I know of, also diarrhea (eww I know),  im constantly exhausted, depsite getting a good sleep nightly. Very itchy - especially wrists and around my waist and also my chest is very red at times. Constant heartburn - taking rennies like they are going out of fashion. Also yellowing of whites of eyes.

Any recommendations on how to keep calm and not worrying, im in a constant state of anxiety.

Ive already had a stage 2A  melanoma several years ago.  I had a mole since birth in a rather private area which didnt really cause any issues and it was rather small.  But had grown to about 1cm and became very itch and bleeding so decided to get it checked out and had it removed for biposy etc and thankfully caught in time.

thanks :)

  • Hi there and welcome to the place were we all know the stress of waiting .. it's the hardest part ...

How long before you get the results .. and with all those symptoms I'm really surprised you wernt fast tracked ... did you tell your G P all what you've put down here ... as I know there's so little time with g ps now .. it feels like they want you in and out ... but it's important you tell them everything ..

Unfortunately there's no easy way through the wait ... it should be called the wait game as it feels like everything goes in slow motion ... tests / appointments / results / ops / and treatment ... l found keeping busy as poss is the best way through .. please don't Google symptoms ... they are always worse case scenario ... and then it feels overwhelming ... I know others don't quite "get it" and there's loads of things they say because they don't understand .. but having family or a good friend to help you through is really comforting.... let us know how you go ... you can always come on here for a good rant ... or just to put feelings down ... we've been there ...  Chrissie x
