Hi everyone,
Apologies in advance for the long post, but I was hoping for a little solace or shared experience that might settle my mind. I attended breast clinic three weeks ago with a breast lump and two small blood spots on my left breast. I had a mammogram and ultrasound and was told that I had an 8mm mass in my left breast that needed biopsy. The doctor that I saw examined my breast and said it was a lumpy breast and she’d be surprised if it came back as cancer.
Whilst waiting for biopsy, I received a letter which said ultrasound showed an 8mm module typical of Fibroadenoma and they were doing a biopsy at radiologists request.
Anyway, at biopsy, the doctor that performed it asked me to show them where the lump was. I did and they then said, “Ok, this lump is fine and not what we are biopsying, we found an incidental nodule on scan and it is this that we are going to biopsy as we feel it requires further investigation.”
I was a bit shocked by this. Were they talking about the same 8mm thing or something else and if it is a Fibroadenoma, has anyone had one suspected that is in fact cancer when it has been biopsied?
i go for the results tomorrow and have been going out of my mind with different scenarios!!
