Your story is word for word what my mum went through 3 years ago, she too has rheumatoid arthiritis but was put on a 2 week referal. She left it a bit longer than you before she went to the docs, but it didnt go away. She of course convinced herself it was something much worse.

After a lot of stress, scan and a biopsy, it turned out to be a swollen lymph node reacting to an existing skin condition. Which then diappeared about 4 weeks later.

So please don't panic, the doc is just following guidelines, but those nodes swell up for numerous reasons.

To be honest im not much of a worrier anyway, nothing much tends to bother me so until i have my scan etc im taking it in my stride. 

Its just good to be able to talk to other people who've been in this position as i dont like to bother family, they DO worry and i wont worry them unnecessarily!
