Liver Mass

I have been experiencing quite severe bouts of abdominal pain, and recently went for an ultrasound. Whilst there it was found that I had gallstones (explains the pain), non alcoholic fatty liver and an enlarged spleen. I was called by the doctor the day after and told that they had also found a mass on my liver, and that I would be referred to see a specialist. I have been generally quite unwell, experiencing pretty bad fatigue and have lost approximately a stone in the past month, loss of appetite, some nausea etc, but the doctors don’t know about some of this, as they haven’t really given me a chance to say anything. My referral is in 8 weeks time and I’m really concerned about the long wait. I know it should be a good sign, but it seems awfully long, as I will at the very least have to continue dealing with the pain of the gallstones (which has had a huge impact on my daily life). Basically I’m only 23, I’ve never really had any health issues before and I’m pretty anxious about the whole thing and was wondering if anyone had any advice or ideas about what I should do? Thanks

  • Hello am95,

I am sorry to hear about your symptoms. You did the right thing in getting it checked out and I hope you get some answers soon. It might be worth giving your doctor a call and mentioning these symptoms you mentioned which they are not aware of so that they can have the full picture of what you are experiencing at the moment. If you are unhappy with the way you are being looked after by your current doctor or you are worried about the length of time for the referral, you may want to consider getting a second opinion. You can find out more about this here
