Skin Biopsy Results

Hi

i had a double skin biopsy at the end of January and I phoned to see if there was any progress with the results because the receptionist last week told me it could be 8 weeks for the results and to keep phoning every week. Today the receptionist said that the dermatologist had the results but is waiting on the official pathology report and I’ve to phone next week if I don’t hear anything. Any ideas what this means? Freaking out because it’s been just coming up on 3 weeks.

Thanks

Charlotte

  • Hi Charlotte,

The dermatologist will have been told a shorterned version of the report but they need to get the full histology report because they may then need to review it at their weekly Multi Disciplinary Meeting (MDT) before giving you the results. I know it doesn't help you worrying & waiting but unfortunately this happens with every biopsy. Although it seems like forever, 4 weeks is the average waiting time for results so hopefully you will know more next week. Good luck & please let us know how you get on,

    Angie (melanoma patient)
