Biopsies for breast

evening all had my appointment at Breast clinic today I had a mammogram (hasn’t changed since 18 months ago) thankfully I also had an ultrasound which they did 18months ago and last time was discharged however this time they’ve decided to do 2 biopsies my question is why if they think all is ok have they done the biopsies is this a new thing? Thanks in advance

Hi Emma3000,
Sometimes if an abnormal area shows on the scan you might need to have more tests. These might include a breast ultrasound scan, a breast MRI scan, or taking a sample of cells from the breast (a biopsy). You can read to read more about what happens after a mammogram here.

Thank you I’ve got an appointment for 12/3/19 so I’m sure if it was something serious they’d see me sooner
