Urology referral waiting times

Hi

Can anyone please advise me

I've had 3 urine tests at my GP in the last 4 weeks. All 3 have had non visible blood in them. After the second positive urine sample i was given a weeks course of antibiotics.

I have had diverse blood tests which the GP said have confirmed I don't have any infection,  my liver is working ok and my prostrate is ok.

I am 52 and an ex smoker.

My GP said I should be seen urgently by the urology dept at the hospital and he would expect that to be within 2 - 4 weeks

However the letter came through from the hospital a few days after I last saw the GP and they are telling me the first available appointment is 75 days away.

Is this right to wait this long and what can I do about it

  • Hi Chris52,

Welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've been having.

I think it may be unlikely that you can do much about the waiting time, however if you're concerned you could speak to your GP again and get clarification on this from their side. If your GP had suggested it was urgent, then you can confirm this point with them.

Hopefully others will be along here soon if they've had a similar experience, to give further reassurance.

    Wishing you all the best.
