Ct scan without contrast

I had an abdominal and pelvic CT scan yesterday. I was the only one out of the other 5 patients who didn't need the contrast dye. I was told they would do a scan without and then see if I needed one with. I only had a scan without and was sent on my way and told to go to my GP for results.

My kidney function was fine from the blood test I had and I've no history of allergies.

I'm now worried that they found something straight away and didn't need the dye. I can't stop worrying that I'm going to die.

Is this normal or has anyone experienced this?

Thanks

  • Hi, the first time I had a ct was on my neck, chest and pelvic area they only used the dye in vein, they saw what they wanted with this. I had to have chemo and every scan after that I had to drink the contrast, seemingly it shows cancer cells more easily so maybe you didn’t need it. I had a bottle of stuff to drink at home then when I got to ct waiting room had to drink more. I guess every hospital has different procedures but I’m sure your ct will be clear enough for them.
