Biopsy results Uterine

Hi

I have had a long journey here today that started in September.

I was rushed to hospital with a kidney stone and whilst there they did a transvaginal scan.

I was referred for a hysteroscopy and on the 2nd attempt it was completed

They removed 2 polyps and a uterus lining sample.

Im menopausal and my uterus was enlarged and had a thick lining 9mm

I was told all looked ok and the samples were sent for analysis.

I was told to phone the secretary in 10 days for the results and discharged with no follow up.

Yestserday i had a phone call and was told the consultasnt needed to see me tommorow at the clinic.

The secretary said she ouldn't discuss why but it related to the results. The consultant couldn't phone me.

Im terrified and cant stop crying.

Please offer advise

  • Hi just seen your post I am going through something similar and awaiting results from biopsy . They told me after Hysteroscopy that it looked ok not but have to test the lining as it was 6 mm instead of 4mm . How did it go with you with your results thinking of you . I also am terrified of results .

  • Hello

Most people find they are fine after their hystereoscopy and I would take some comfort in that and try to occupy yourself to deal with your worries. I am thinking of you and I know how stresful things are when you have to go through these tests.

Well my lining was a little ticker than yours  at 10mm and the uterus biopsies were fine but one polyp had something called 'hyperplasia atypia'.  I had a telephone call a week after the biopsy calling me back to see the consultant. If all is clear it takes a little longer to hear as they write.

I was advised to go for a hysterectomy as I had a high risk of already having cancer already or developing it over the next twenty years. From this point things moved quickly and i was booked in for a hysterectomy 4 weeks later. I worked till the day before as managing my stress levels were easier that way.

I was told all looked ok after the operation and my uterus cervix tubes and ovaries were sent to pathology to look in detail. 3 weeks later the results came through no cancer or hyperplasia atypia was found.

So all was well but I went with the advice as it was described as an insurance policy on my future.

I'm now recovering for the surgery and on the whole happy with my decision.

I hope things go well for you xx
