Mass on lung

Hi

First time poster.

I'll try to keep this brief as I'm at work.

They've found a mass on my mums lung. She has to see a chest specialist on Friday and possible have a CT scan (I cant be certain she is having the scan this Friday. I know she has to have one but cant remember what  date she said)

My F-I-L has just had his bowel and bladder removed due to sarcoma cancer. My M-I-L went through treatment for breast cancer last year. My partner has just been diagnosed with COPD

I dont know if I'm coming or going at the moment. I have to remind myself to breathe somedays!!

What can my mum expect at her appointment in Friday? How can I help her and my dad?. I want to do as much as possible to help her. I'm beyond heartbroken.

Is a mass a bad sign? Everything I read is pointing towards cancer. Is this the only outcome?

Sorry for rambling. I have to go back to work

Thanks for reading

Xx

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Losingmyway.

I'm sorry to hear that a mass was found on your mum's lung, it sounds like this is a very stressful time for all of you.

It's dificult for us to say what this mass could be, but I'm glad to hear that her medical team is on the case. For what I understood from your post your mum was to have her appointment today? Once you know more, come back and give us an update, we're keeping our fingers crossed for her.

Wishing you and your mum the very best,

  • Thankyou for replying.

I'm not sure I can give you much in the way of an update. My mums appointment was Friday. The Dr did her blood, asked lots of questions (mums a non smoker, doesn't get breathless, is active etc). They looked at her xray, Dr didn't say much but in mums words 'seemed quite relaxed about it' so this has helped relax mum.

We are still waiting for the CT scan so there is nothing else to tell really?

I have a Dr appointment later this week to get myself under control. Then I can help mum and dad more

I'll update when her appointment for the scan comes through

    Xxx

  • Hello there; just wanted to say I have read  your posts and hope things turn out less awful than you fear.  How are your in-laws doing at this time?  The friend with whom I live also has COPD; I seem to spend too much time chasing doctors for prescriptions that have not arrived and making sure he is okay.  He has got a mobility scooter (bought it second hand) which means that he can go out without having to rely on me to drive him around.    Let us know how you are all doing and we would be very pleased just to chat with you about everythign that is going on.  Best wishes.  Annie
