Worried again...

HI,

I have had on and off bleeding when wiping for just under a year now, it completely stopped during the summer months and has now returned late last year and early this year. I do have OCD which tends to make me far more anxious about these kinds of things. I am 18 and in good physical health and I am going to book an appointment with the GP when I have time. my bowel movements are rather irregular but I am unsure if this is due to the stress of bleeding. any reassurance or advice on how to stop the bleeding or be more comfortable is greatly appreciated.

  • Hi, it could just be nothing. I've known a few people who've said the same and it's turned out to be nothing. Good on you for taking the initiative to get it checked. Make sure you make that appointment asap or you will drive yourself crazy with 'what ifs' and even more time will pass.

    Good luck!

  • Hi,

I've went to the docs with on off bleeding when wiping (and other symptoms), they examined me and found a hemmeroid, I insisted on a camera exam and again nothing else was found except the hemmeroid. My bleeding was on and off and bright red. I  haven't found any evidence online that stress makes the bleeding worse, but I do know that I hadn't bled for 3 weeks, then got a call off the nurse to say my camera exam would be within 2 weeks. My tummy instantly started gurgling with nerves (I'm quite an anxious person) and within 20 mins i noticed bleeding, that to me shows stress must make it worse.

You are half my age and undoubtedly in a lot better shape, the chance of it being anything serious are so tiny. I expect your doc will do an internal exam and suggest bloods and an FOB test. If you are worried then insist on these tests to put your mind at rest, don't let them fob you off because of your age. Not because I think they will find anything, purely because, you will continue to worry until you get the all clear

    Take care
