Bit of advice

I recently noticed one breast is more swollen than the other I am 27 years old also I have been having alot of pain in the same breast that is swollen when I self checked I can feel like branches of trees is all I can describe them as more on one side than the other my breast is giving me alot of pain all day and night I have been exhausted and having pain in my neck and shoulder blades I am waiting for my doctors appointment which isn't until the 12th March! My head is all over the place with worry and constantly checking I have also noticed this evening from my chest to armpit is swollen

  • Hi Rclowe

I am amazed that you have to wait so long to see the GP. Did you explain that you were concerned about your breast? Go back and insist on seeing a doctor within the next 2 days. If need be the doc will refer you to the breast clinic and you should be seen in 2 weeks. At least your mind will be put at rest. Remember most problems with breasts are not cancer!

best wishes & a big hug.

    Hi Rclowe,

    Welcome to the forum.

I too am astonished at the length of your wait. Phone up your GP's receptionist and tell her that you need an urgent appointment to see about your breast. Explain that you have also been having problems with your neck and shoulder. I would expect you to be seen quite quickly if you do this.

Please let us know how you get on. we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,
    Jolamine xx

  • I explained all this on the phone I was disgusted with the receptionist and her attitude towards me speaking to me as if I was thick I said isn't there any earlier appointments she said by all means come down to the gp surgery at 8 am and wait and see if a doctor would see you I explained I have 3 children who need taking to school etc... she said we will see you on the 12th March then and put the phone down I was in floods of tears by this point as me been me googled my symptoms so now I am thinking the worst

    Thank you for reading xx

    Hi,

Consulting Dr Google is never a good idea. Many items are out of date or poorly reearched and, many seem to concentrate on the worst case scenarios.Try to steer clear if you can.

Have you phoned your GP practice again today? Don't delay in  contacting them.if they cannot fit you in any sooner, ask for a phone consultation with one of the doctors and tell them about your experience so far.The doctor will possibly fit you in sooner, once s/he knows the circumstances.

I hope that this works for you and that you get seen very soon.

Please let us know how you get on and, remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,
    Jolamine xx

  • Hi been waiting at doctors to see if anyone could see me they managed to get me an appointment once I had been there 2 hours for Thursday so I left now they have phoned up at 5 pm to cancel it ! I am considering ringing 111 to see if they could get me an appointment any were my head is pickled

Fed up tired of it n petrified now xx

  • hi Rclowe,

im 22 and found a lump in my right boob, I rang my gp and they had me in the next day, you should be referred straight away if you notice any changes to your boobs!

You need to ring them and demand an appointment I have my breast clinic appointment tomorrow morning and I only went to the doctors last Wednesday.

They usally sort this stuff out quite fast so you shouldn’t be waiting that long!

hope you are okay and not worrying to much because that’s what I’m like

    xx

  • I have I sobbed in the doctors telling them I needed to see someone and they said I had to wait so I did , then came home for them to cancel appointment im phoning 111 tomorrow morning to get a appointment else were let me know how you get on x

  • I can’t believe that! That’s disgusting things like this are serious! Yeah please don’t wait that Long it will drive you insane! But try not to worry to much about it even though it’s very difficult! X

  • Oh my word you must be beside yourself with worry! Go back to GP and tell the receptionist that you will request a home visit and also will complain about your experience to the practice manager/NHS regulatory body. I wouldn't be surprised if the receptionist suddenly fits you in. When you see the GP tell him about your terrible experience.

Unbelievably cruel and unnecessary to treat you this way. I am so angry on your behalf. I hope you have more luck tomorrow.

  • Hi Lollipop

Just want to send you my best wishes for tomorrow. You will feel better when you know what's what. The waiting is truly the worst bit.

Unlike RClowe I have had absolutely wonderful care and compassion in my BC journey. Remember though that most lumps are benign.

    Sending a hug x
