Appointment tomorrow.

Evening all,

I have had a ca-125 test come back high at 179, biopsy, Ultra sound and CT. Have a possible cyst on ovaries, and many masses in uterus. I was called last Tuesday as my case was talked about on Monday and have an appointment tomorrow to discuss “a plan”. Lots of research done and was just wondering if anyone has any experience of anything like this. I am thinking hysterectomy is the way forward. I am 46, no kids. All helpful advice welcome.

  • Good evening and welcome

i was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in April 2018 after similar tests. I had ultrasound, hysteroscooy where a biopsy was taken and an MRI. The biopsy showed low grade cancer and the MRI stage 1b, cancer still contained in the uterus but spread more than 50% into the wall. Have you been given any information like this. If not they may be expecting to talk about the findings as well as a plan. I underwent a total hysterectomy, and ovaries and tubes removed in May 2018. This was carried out via keyhole surgery and i was in hospital just overnight. It took about two weeks to recover. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask and I’ll do my best to answer based on my own experience. However everyone’s plan can vary according to circumstances.,

  • Evening, sorry for the late reply it has been a bit of a whirlwind.  The meeting went ok. I am booked in for a total hysterectomy. They are not going to do it keyhole as they are still unsure about the masses and want to remove everything whole to be tested. My consultant will tell me more after the histology results come back. We talked best case it is all contained and no more treatment is required. Thank you for you honest reply it is just lovely to know I have somewhere to talk with people who have been through similar experiences.

  • Hi

It sounds as if you are moving forward. Do you know when your surgery will be carried out? I too had to wait for histology results. Unfortunately results upgraded cancer from 1 to 3 so further treatment was needed. I had a second op in July 2018 where lymph nodes were removed. They hadn’t done that during the first op as the grade was considered lower. The nodes were clear, thank goodness and I just had three sessions of internal radiotherapy in September.to reduce the risk of it coming back. I’m now just waiting for my first post treatment appt in March.

Please let me know how it all progresses and ask questions if you would like, I’m sending you a friend request in case you would prefer to ask in a private message rather than on the open forum. I’ll leave it up to you.

    I hope everything goes well.
