Ultrasound results are in

Hey everyone just looking for some advice for someone who has possibly been in a similar situation? And advice however would be greatfully recieved

Im a 34 year old mom of 3 boys, ive been back and forth to gp since october about painful/problamatic periods, lower back pain, bleeding after sex, pain during sex, urgency to pee up to 25+ times a day and i was referred for a ultrasound.

So yesterday gp called me in for appointment to discuss results...i have a 3cm cyst on ovary not known if solid or fluid but appears benign, tubular cystic structure on medial left ovary which i think means fluid on fallopian tube, and 5cm polyp on gallbladder.

I have been referred as urgent appointment to gynae and another specialist for mri and ct scans. I should mention my mom lost her battle to ovarian cancer 8 years ago and my sister was diagnosed at 34 obviously im worried although not worried sick more of a i just want to know.....

Any advice from you lovely people would be greatly recieved just looking for your stories or more symptoms i should be looking for etc

Xxxx

  • I had a large ovarian cyst of 10cm removed around 14 years ago. It started off smaller and I had to go back for several scans until they decided to remove it as it was continuing to grow. As I understand it, it is less to do with size and more to do with the nature of the cyst - they can often tell on the scan by the thickness of the cyst wall if it is likely benign, but cannot confirm it 100% without biopsy. They often resolve on their own but I would think they are being proactive because of your family history.

I had had a previous cyst removed which developed during pregnancy - removed during my caesarian. I then developed a third large cyst and chose to have a hysterectomy as I had had both my children by then and was 40 and fed up with gynae issues. You may be faced with losing your ovary or be offered a hysterectomy. In both cases it would be a week in hospital. Hrt after a hysterectomy obvs.

  • Thank you for your reply...

I already have my tubes tied as i have 3 children and didnt plan anymore so full hysterectomy eventually if ut came to that wouldnt be a issue fertility wise however a big op does sound daunting glad everything went smoothly for you hunny and thankyou for sharing, made me a more aware xxx
