Hi all,
I’m hoping someone might of been through something similar and might be able to help me.
Over the past year i’ve become a bit of a constant worrier and the recent changes to my body seem to have exasperated this so I’m hoping to get some real advice before I get too lost in my own thoughts.
Before Christmas I went to the doctor as I felt like I had a constant lump in my throat and had difficulty swallowing. I could eat and drink but the lump sensation was still there. The Doctor told me that this was an imaginary sensation brought on by anxiety and to go back in January if I didn’t feel better.
Two weeks ago I saw the same doctor again as I still have the constant lump. She decided during this appointment to refer me to ENT which my appointment will be this Friday.
I have no pain in my throat but I do find that smaller bits of food get stuck and I am needing to try clear my throat constantly throughout the day. The lump sensation is also very distracting and I’ve been unable to sleep because of it (weirdly it always feels larger at night)
I’m thankful that I don’t have long to wait for my appointment but I am very worried about the process once I’m there. It’s a local ENT unit (not the hospital unit) so I’m not sure if there are any differences in how they treat you but basically I wondered if anyone could give me advice on the following:
-What should I expect at my first ENT appointment?
-Do doctors usually give you an indication straight away if they believe it’s anything serious?
Any advice is greatly appreciated as I am extremely nervous and I just can’t stop worrying.
Thank you in advance
