Anyone else sore after Colonoscopy?

Hey everyone!

i had a colonoscopy last Sunday (1week ago). Has anyone else felt tender in the bowel/abdomen region afterwards? I feel bruised or tender when bending over etc?!

It’s not getting worse or anything, I just want to know if anyone has had a similar experience?

It was a painful colonoscopy so I’m not sure if this was a factor?

  • I'm thinking the same after 7 weeks of hell,I feel like a prisoner,Day 12 I went back into different hospital, pain was just the same when they discharged me after 4 days,I'm getting worried now & pace around half the night with pain, something's definitely not right ,going private this week ,getting desperate now ,

  • I had a colonoscopy last saturday and had a large polyp removed, wasnt overly sore but since friday I've had a lot of stomach acid and my actual stomach is hurting, has anyone else had this?

  • Seems to be the norm, despite being told after 48 hours should be back to normal. I had a brutal 90 minutes probing and after 7 days I still feel painful and the urge to go constantly. I had 3 polyps removed, one 4.5cm that I had to "push" out, still waiting for results.

  • I had a Colonoscopy last Sunday still have stomach pains aweek on. Had a 4mm polyp removed  and diagnosed with diverticular disease.   I had diverticulitis a couple of years ago pain not has bad, more like a period, draggy pain.  Sometimes can be quite gripping.  Bowel movement not back to normal Should I  be eating a high fibre diet now?

  • Hi . I had colonoscopy last Friday, results are fine. But I still feel pain and bloated. I'm passing gas sometimes. It's difficult to lying bed one side or the other, feeling pain left side or right side. Is it normal ??? I don't go to toilet yet. Today Sunday and discomfort still there .

  • I had a sigmoidoscopy 3 days ago, I was told all looked ok and no follow-up needed.

I had gas and air and had some intense pain a couple of times during the procedure.  Since then I have felt really bloated even after small amounts of food and have an aching/stitch like pain in my left side, especially when sitting in a chair.  Had my first BM today which was ok. Is it normal to have these symptoms after a flexi sig? and if so how long do they last. Many thanks

  • I had a colonoscopy coming up to 4 weeks ago now, but every now and then keep getting pain in my left side too. It's like a sharp stabbing pain by my ribs in the corner, I have a feeling that might be where they took one of the biopsy's from so could be that? But they took 6 biopsies and this is the only place I get pain. (Haven't had results yet) but my colonoscopy was quite painful I had to be given more sedation half way through so maybe it was due to this? I'm not sure. I've tried to ring doctors to check it's ok but can never get through. Does anyone know what this might mean? Worried as it's been nearly month and still hurting.

  • I have the same. I had mine on the 16th Jan with 4 biopsies taken and I'm still experiencing a lot of pain in my right hand side.
I've had an abdominal scan since as I thought I'd better get it checked, everything showed up clear and I've just been given pain killers. I hope this helps.

  • Hi similar for me also. With 2 x 4mm polyps removed. Also have Diverticulosis. Previously diagnosed from a Sigmoidoscopy. I don't feel it's wind from the air to enlarge the intestines. I believe its more of a bruising cramps pain from food moving through. It's been 3 days and each day I feel a little better.

  • Hello I have had two colonscopies in three weeks, the las test was 17 Feb. Not a pleasant experience. Have one large poly removed plus 5 small ones. This time I am still experiencing some pain on my right hand side and lower back. Hopefully this will ease. But I haven't received any results from the biopsies. I did have one 2015 and never got any results! This was after diverticulitis. So I am not too hopeful. I am improving but vowed never to have another colonoscopy!
