Ovarian Cysts... And fibroids for good measure

Last week I had an ultrasound following prolonged aches and pains in my abdomen.

They found a cyst on each ovary plus several fibroids in my womb. All along I've been told it's nothing to worry about and I'd been referred to a gynaecologist to see if there was anything they can do or anything they need to do.

I was sent for a blood test which along fr testing CA-125 it was a full works test.

This morning the surgery called saying my gp has asked me to come in this week to discuss amending my referral. Of course my brain has now freaked out and the first thing it has gone to is "OMG I have cancer"

Up until now I've only had a few symptoms mainly being constantly bloated which, like many, I believed to be IBS symptoms but apart from that up until recently I've never had any of the other symptoms attributed to Ovarian issues/cancer.

My appointment isnt until tomorrow so I've a full 24 hours of freaking out. Just wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience or could offer advice on the meantime?

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community RandomBrunette.

I'm sorry no-one was able to get back you before your appointment yesterday but I hope it went well and that your fears were not confirmed.

It's always scary when you're called in but the majority of the time it isn't what you think it's going to be, which I hope is what happened in your case.

Do come back and let us know what happened if you can as I'm sure your experience will benefit others who may be in a similar situation.

    Kind regards,
