Could this be ovarian cancer?

Hi All,

My first time posting on here.. hoping to get some advice!

My mum has been having upper abdominal pain, pain down one side of her pelvis, loss of appetite and some sharp pains in her back. She say’s that she has had these symptoms for a couple of months now and is finally getting them checked out by the G.P. Initially they thought it was stomach ulcer but she’s now being sent for a CA 125 blood test. I know from reading so many other stories from other sufferers and also from symptoms which google has brought up for ovarian cancer , that it doesn’t look good and all the symptoms so far seem to be a match for ovarian cancer. I just wanted to know if anyone else suffering had these symptoms ? Anyone else have these symptoms but it turned out to be something else? could this be cancer?

I am 24 and I’ve suffered horribly with problems with endometriosis and ovarian cysts and PCOS , but I have never experienced symptoms such as she is having so I am now thinking the worst. I know it’s too soon and that it’s best to just wait for the results and I feel so so selfish for being this upset as I am not the one suffering! But I love my mum more than life itself and the thought of her having ovarian cancer is killing me. I really want to know now how likely it is that it’s ovarian cancer :( I’m sorry I must sound selfish. I am just so scared. I really want her to be ok.

Thanks for any advice/info that you can offer.

xx

  • Hi Francesca.

Welcome to the forum although I'm sorry to hear that your Mum is experiencing health concerns that have brought you here.

I don't think you sound selfish at all. It's understandable that you're concerned and worried that she is unwell. It speaks only of the relationship between the two of you.

No one can give you the answers that you seek at the moment. As you say yourself, it's best to wait for the results, although we know that the waiting can be difficult and it's easy for your mind to race.

Hopefully the wait won't be too long and they'll be some positive news for Mum.

    Sending our best wishes
