Skin Lesion removal

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I'm having a skin lesion removed from my cheek next week. Doc seems to think its a rodent ulcer or a low grade cancer!! I'm trying to stay positive, but it's not easy when I've lost both parents to cancer, it's just petrifies me.

  • Hi lovely,

I'm also new to chat this week. Similar circumstances to you, I have a suspect mole on my face and I'm awaiting my dermatology appointment. Also similarly, both my parents are deceased, my mum due to cancer and my dad had a cancerous lesion removed from his forehead (though he passed away from a heart issue, totally unrelated to his cancer).

just wanted you to know you aren't alone, I'm also absolutely terrified and thinking the worst. Hoping your appointment comes soon xxx

  • Hi Crazychick

I'm sorry you are awaiting surgery and you are naturally very worried about it. The positive angle to look at this is the fact that your doctor thinks it's a rodent ulcer (basal cell carcinoma) or low grade cancer. These are both very treatable and should cause you no further problem after treatment. Waiting for surgery and results is the most difficult part so keep busy to distract yourself. If your worries overtake you, try listening to a meditation CD or try yoga or tai chi which helps calm and relax.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
