Hello I'm new to the group

Hi, I'm Ian in north ayrshire. I've found a lump around my pubic area this morning, this was following on from having severe ball ache for 5 days.

The area(inguinal area lymph nodes)  is uncomfortable to touch and has a size of around 5-6cms long. I saw my gp today and shes requested that I have an ultra sound on the affected area, no bloods were asked for and as I have a family history of cancer shes put me up for screening from now on.

Has anyone had similar symptoms that hasn't been cancerous or if cancerous how did you get on?

    Hello Ian and a big welcome to our forum!

    You've totally done the right thing in going to your GP to get your lump checked out. It won't be long now before you have your ultrasound scan and hopefully you will get clearer answers then. It's good the doctor is taking your family history into consideration and putting you up for regular screening from now on.

    Try not to anticipate though what it might be as it might make you anxious. I hope you will hear from some of our members who have been in a similar position before and that they will share their story with you. 

    Keep us updated as to what you find out after the ultrasound. Do you already have a date for it?

    Hi Lucie,

    Thanks for the reply. No date as such just now for the ultra sound but I had to go to doctor on call at the weekend because of pain and they found another lump . They've pushed my ultra sound to an urgent so hopefully hear something back soon.
