Help: my breast is all swollen and constantly in pain

Hi, first time writing in this forum and I'm looking for some advice. I've had a sore nipple since nov, went to the dr and was prescribed cream, didn't work. So made another appointment and was prescribed a steroid cream didnt work. My Dr referred me to a breast specialist who told me it was nothing more than a sore nipple. I woke up 2 days later my breast swollen and sore to touch, im in absolute agony and don't know what to Do. I've seen the breast specialist again today who said it's defo nothing serious but he examined me for literally 40 seconds. I'm in constant pain I've had anti biotics and creams and nothings worked. Had anyone had the same symptoms and can share their experiences. My breast is all swollen and constantly in pain. Feels like mastitis so I was convinced I had inflammatory bc but the specialist said defo not. Has anyone had anything similar??

  • Hello XweegeeX,

How frustrating it must be for you that you have had so many appointments, were prescribed so many different creams and tried antibiotics yet nothing seems to work. It's good your doctor referred you to a breast specialist but if you feel that you were not examined properly, it might be worth asking whether you could see another specialist and get a different opinion just for peace of mind.

I hope you will connect with others here who will have had a similar experience. I have slightly edited your title as a result to make sure that others who have been in a similar situation will spot your post straight away and share their story with you.

    Best wishes,

    Hi XweegeeX,

I am so sorry to hear about your concerns. I agree totally with Lucie. You need an answer to this problem, so don't be afraid to ask for another opinion.

Another possibility might be to ask for a referral to a breast clinic, where they have the right machines for investigating breast problems. Breast cancer is usually not painful, so it does sound more like an infection.

You do not say what age you are or whether you have a family. If you have recently given birth, there are various other problems that this could be attributed to, but these are treatable.

Do please let us know how you get on. Sometimes you just have to stick to your guns, no matter how frustrating this may be. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,
