Ovarian cancer

Hi, recently my mum was sent for a ultrasound due to horrendous bleeding, back pain, pain while having sex and some other things. During the ultrasound the told her she had fibroids but to wait for the doctors to get in touch with her, anyway skip to last week the doctor phoned, told her she has cysts on both ovaries, aswell as cysts in her womb and she was been transferred urgently as they're worried. She for her urgent appointment for the 10th April which is 3 month away. She's in absolute agony every day it's getting worse. I'm worried she may have ovarian cancer and wondering how we can get he seen as soon as possible. Any help would be much appreciated xxx

  • Welcome to our forum, Jenlil.

I'm sorry to hear that your mum is feeling so poorly and that you are understandably very concerned.

As she is is getting worse, has she tried phoning her GP to see if there is something they can do in order to alleviate her symptoms for the time being? If she hasn't perhaps it is a good idea to do so.

The other thing I wanted to mention is for you to feel free to give our cancer nurses a call if you think speaking to them could help with finding ways to support your mum until her appointment. Their lines are open Monday - Friday between 9 a.m - 5 p.m on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi, thankyou for replying.

I think she's getting back in touch with her gp first thing on Monday morning. Also she's had her app brought forward but only by 2 week. Im really worried now because the pain is now really intense in her lower back, but it seems to be spreading all the way up her body and she now having really really bad headaches. I don't think she's going to be able to last until April with this pain, it's getting to the point where I think she needs to go to AnE  x
