Lump under nipple

Hi, about 6/8 weeks ago I found a lump under my right nipple, it's about the size of a 10p. It actually feels attached to the inside of the nipple and radiates down into the breast, tender to touch, no discharge but without sounding crude the nipple isn't as responsive as the left one and you can't pinch it like the one that's ok. I've been to gp who has referred me to breast clinic but I had a screening about 15 months ago because basically I had lumpy breast but this feels so very different, and painful. Any advice would be grateful. Thankyou.

  • Jolamine, it seems that while you have delt with one demon that another rears its ugly head. I'm just thankful that you have had this looked at straight away and they aren't messing around. Still a worrying time for you. Please let us know how you get on.

I have waves of fear keep coming over me. And what ifs....I've never know 2 weeks to take so long!

I doing all the things I tell my patients to try not to do, all nursing skills/abilities are thrown out of the window.

Positive thoughts and kind wishes sent your way

    Hi Angie,

They say that life doesn't throw more at you than you can bear, but I sometimes wonder!

You are just being the typical nurse - they never make good patients, partly because they never do what they're told. Waitng to be seen and then waiting for results after that can be very unsettling, as there are so many unknowns. Your emotions can be all over the place. Many of us cry like babies too, but don't worry about this, as the release of all those tears is a good stress-reliever.

At least, you are half way through your wait now. Just try and keep yourself otherwise preoccupied in the meantime.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Angie,

Sorry you find yourself on here and joining us, but welcome nonetheless!

Not sure anyone can advise you as such, just say that you've done the right thing getting it checked out and at least with a referral to the breast clinic you'll be in good hands.  We've all been in this waiting game, and I'm back in it again at the moment, it's one of the worst bits the waiting.  As you probably know sometimes having symptoms can be a good indicator that it's something other than cancer, so I'm hoping scans and tests come back with something non-threatening.

If they don't and your worst fears are realised at least you've made contact already and we'll all be here to offer comfort, support, even laughs.

    Fingers crossed!

  • Hi guys, sorry it's been a while for me to reply, my appointment was on the 5th but sadly my beautiful mum lost her fight in life and passed away on the 4th . She has left a massive whole in my heart and replying on here took a back step.

I went for my scan and it is a cyst, but they aren't going to do anything with it, although the last few days it flared up and became quite big and painful again. I guess I'm going to have to put up with it.

    Hope you are all well.

Thankyou for all you lovely words of support and encouragement xx

  • Hi Angie,

So sorry about your mum's passing, I hope you have lots of support around you.  Glad to hear it's a cyst though and hopefully they may do something to help you with it at some point.

Wishing you lots of comfort at this time.

    Hi Angie,

I am so sorry to hear about your mum's passing and, I offer my sincere condolences to you and your family.

I am however, glad to hear that your breast problems turned out to be cysts and, that there is no further treatment. Did they decide to bring you back annually to check on your breasts, or are they just going to leave you to return if you have any further trouble.

I am hoping and praying that you find the strength to get through this.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
