Help! (Breast)

I've had a dull ache in my left breast for around 3 months now, the tissue feels thicker although there's no obvious lump. I sometimes experience a strange prolonged tender pain which lasts around 10 seconds and then goes. I went to the doctor and have an appointment at the hospital later in the month for it to be checked. Should I be worried? Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

    Welcome to our forum.

    I am sorry to hear about your symptoms and, I am glad to see that you are getting investigated for these.

    I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 9 years and, can assure you that it is impossible to tell what your problem is until you have had some tests carried out at the hospital. It normally takes 1-2 weeks to get the results of these tests, so please don't go to your first appointment with the expectation of getting a diagnosis there and then.

    Statistics are fairly well in your favour, as there are a number of causes of breast pain. Out of every 10 people referred to the breast clinic, only 1 will turn out to have cancer. You do not say what age you are, which is another factor in breast pain.

    I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is detected.

    Hello, 

    I found a thickening between my right breast/armpit, mine has been aching since I've been aware of it and has caused me all kinds of anxiety. Its been really sore during last 2 periods, which is why I was feeling around to see if there was anything there. My GP said she thinks it is extra breast tissue and didn't seem concerned. From what I gathered from Google (my worst enemy) it might be fibrocystic breast tissue. I've been referred to breast clinic, which is making me assume the worst!!  Very very anxious, I don't think you should necessarily be worried but would be normal if you are, boobs are kinda scary! I hope you get on okay and that everything is fine :) 

    Edit: just seen this is an old post, would also like to know how you got on, hope everything was okay :D
