Endometrial polyps advice

Hi everyone!! I feel terrible writing on this forum because I haven't had a diagnoses..but please if anyone has similar symptoms please give me advice

I had my daughter 18 months ago and ever since very heavy bleeding. Of course I went to the doctor was put on tranxamic acid and the pill, months and months went on and there had been no improvement, my periods are incredibly irregular.

Last 2 weeks and only be off for 1 week then I will be back on again.. so 3 months ago I was referred to gynaecologist, she had a look at my cervix and did a biopsy.. all looked fine and biopsy fine. Then 3 weeks later I had a ultrasound scan done, scan showed 2 bright white spots on the lining of my womb, unsure wether this was because of the biopsy they asked me to have another scan 3 months later, since the first scan I have had bleeding with very large clots but they still no sign of being regular. Had my scan done today and the sonographer  found 3 more white spots some 1 to 2 cm other 2 to 3 cm so they found 5 altogether now, 1 of them has a blood supply flowing through it. She also mentioned that the lining of my womb was very thick and that I have a lot of discharge, she said this is usually seen in somebody who is about to have a period, I finished 2 days ago. I've now got to wait for appointment to come through to have a operation to remove this spots, polyps was mentioned but she was not 100 percent. Then they will do another biopsy on them.. wouldn't the previous biopsy show up cancerous? Why do another? I'm 27 years old with 2 children both terrible labour's. Please if anyone has had this can you speak to me x

  • How are you now.

I was referred via my gp last Oct to gyno, due to covid was finally seen sept 2020, Had internal, ultrasound, internal womb scan which was horrendous pain, biopsy’s and  been told I got thicking of the uterus and polyps.Im on 20 g provera to control the bleeding, which was everyday.

Iwas told I’m urgent 6-8 weeks to go in for removal of the polyps and a mirea coil put in.The pain currently is bad my back and stomach is like contractions. Its been 11 weeks now and I’m still waiting To go in....

  • Hi, sorry it's not letting me reply to posts. I was taken in weeks after I was referred I had polyps and fibroids removed, they recommended that I have endometrial ablation as it will be a reoccurring thing. I did have a short time  that I felt a bit better after but it's all started again. I went the doctors just before Christmas last year as my periods were getting heavier but with everything that is going on I haven't been back as at the moment it's bearable. I hope you all manage to get somewhere I know how awful it is it effects your everyday life and gets you down xx

  • I wish they just take my uterus out, the thought of future problems, worse case cancer.Ive already had sin 3 pre cancer cells when I was 29 layered away in my cervix. Heart tumour that had to be cut away, which has left me with a elevated diaphragm and low heart rate and palpitations,so generally really not feeling well.xxx

  • Hello Rose_P and Lily26

I too am experinecing the same problems, and have been going back and fore to my doctors for a couple of years now. Im not sure what is worse, the bleeding or the pain. I was advised during a routine smear test last November that I have a polyp that needs removing but has to be done by gynaeclogist as they can not see the back of the polyp (apparently this is nothing to be worried about.) I was put on a waiting list for gynae but told the waiting lists are currently 26 weeks. Due to heavy bleeding my doctors managed to get my appointment brought forward but as I had not had a scan it was cancelled. Had my scan on 23rd December and gynae appointment scheduled for 26th Jan. On 11th Jan Health board cancelled all non urgent gynae appointments so this appointment was cancelled. Now received notification that I have an urgent appointment in 1 weeks time arranged at a private hospital. So far all my bloods and biopsies have come back as nothing to worry about but now this urgent appointment. Im relieved to be being seen, scared of what they are going to tell me but also scared that they are going to tell me there is nothing there and I have to continue suffering. I generally feel very lethargic (put that down to the constant bleeding, pressures that lockdown and covid bring and home schooling to teenagers) and I have to nap every afternoon. I am currenlty on the pill and transenamic acid as provera did not touch the bleeding. I hope you ladies get some answers soon, it seems so cruel how much we have to suffer.

  • I was told 26 weeks back October 2019,then covid hit,I finally seen a gyno September 2020, she put me on 10 mg provera but I was still bleeding,so doubled it to 20mg, the bleeding stopped then, but didn’t get proper period ps then. I was referred for a scan, then a womb hysteroscopy to inspect further biopsy and bloods.I then had to wait till 6 January 2021, where they did a local anaesthetic via hysteroscopy to remove 2 polyps and put a mirena idu coil inside me to thin my uterus lining.I suggest you take painkillers for a hysteroscopy 1 hr before.I had light bleeding after it,and discomfort but feel so much better in myself now.Try not to worry cause you been seen private,I think they trying to keep things moving by sending people where’s possible. Keep us posted how you are after you see the gyno.xxx

  • Hi sorry to jump to the thread, I went to the dr before Christmas with a suspected urine infection, I just mentioned in passing that my periods were really heavy. Fast forward 3 weeks and I was sent for a scan. I eventually spoke to my dr again yesturday, weeks after the scan to hear the results. To be honest I can't remember half of what she said, polyps and cancer were mentioned and the rest of the conversation was full of long words and possible diagnosise that I at the time I felt so upset I didn't question. Not in my wildest dreams did I think she would say anything like that. I then made the mistake of looking online, it did lead me to this group but also made me absolutely worried sick at what the possible outcome could be. I'm 39 and have 3 children, who I haven't mentioned anything too, obviously. I have blood tests on Monday, the dr referred me to a gynaecologist so I'm waiting for my appointment. I'm scared witless.

  • Bless you, the big names fir conditions are very confusing. My advice is to ring your hospital switch board  in a few days,my hospital have a first appointment department. She then told me my referral to see a gyno had been received, and give me the consultant gyno secretary name and number, she then told me how long I’m expecting to wait.I seen a gyno in September, no cancer but needed the polyps removed and mirena coil to thin my uterus lining, that can have different names and can turn to cancer. The waiting is the hardest part,to see the gyno, but if they mention cancer u probably fast tracked, which I think is 2 weeks,if you don’t hear nothing ring hospital and keep onto them.My gyno secondary only worked 3 days a week and it was hard work.

This chat page very helpful, please keep us up to date, thinking of you.xxx

  • Hi there.

My story pretty much mirrors yours. Only symptom heavy periods and slight tenderness in my womb area but nothing too bad. I'm a mum of 4 and 40 years old. Had a scan today which showed a 3cm polyp. I have to call my GP on Monday to be referred to the Gynae which from reading others posts looks as though it might be quite a quick process to get an appointment. I'm Trying to process it myself and not jump to conclusions but it's so hard not to isn't it.
    xx

  • Have had horrendous periods for years now. Had a scan 2 years ago where fibroids were diagnosed. Was treated for Anaemia a few times and then when I started getting that fatigue again I spoke to my GP who arranged another blood test and yep anaemic again. So my gp sent me for another scan 7 weeks ago, results showed fibroid, possibly a polyp and thickening of the womb. I've now been referred for a hysteroscopy but still waiting. When you start looking these things up it gets very scary. I'm 50 and pre monopausal. I lost my dad from Cancer when he was 59 so feeling extra scared I think due to that. Sending love to all women going through something similar xx

  • Hi I am 37 I had a polo removed about 3 years ago as I wasn't having periods went nearly 6 years with nothing took me ages get a doctor to listen to me no one was intrested .  Finally got some one tryed the pills to help realise the lining to bleed nothing happened had blood tests to see if had menopause nope . Sent me to

ser a consultant had a hysterscopy I watched the screen  the told me she wanted to look deeper as she found something but needed me to be asleep booked me in for a week later. Went in and they took a polp out and it had stage 2 cells in it.
I new something was wrong as when they called me back for results the waiting area was empty and I wasn't on the list for appointment s we went in to a side room with comfy chairs.  When they removed the polp I had a coil fitted had to have a mri to see if cells had gone any further. I was told then that best treatment she thought would be a hysterectomy which I was happy for as I can't have kids due to pcos and periods been so irregular .
mot went to the bosses at a netting between other consultants and they decided on 6 monthly hysterscopy then if I get a clear result 12 monthly .

my periods now are any thing from every 2 weeks to 4 week s and it's dark brown discharge and some times a little smelly sorry for the details . On mondahh hun I was in so much paid in my stomach it went into my back I never been like that before and I was having teounle at times to stand . I am waiting for my

next Hysterscopy consultant rang me feb saying it would be 4 weeks but due to covid I have t a clue . Do I ring the gp
