Multiple lumps in lower back. Very confused.

Hi guys, sorry to post again about all my lumps and bumps, i suffer horrendously from health anxiety and finding all this lumps has put my mind into overdrive. It helps me to write it all down on here and vent.

I’m growing increasingly concerned over multiple lumps that I have found in my lower back, just above the hips and near the dimples. They are on both sides of my back and almost mirror each other perfectly. I have counted between 8-10 lumps all varying in different shapes and sizes. Some of them feel like ovals and other feel quite flat with unclear edges. I went to the doctors about this and she said they were lymph nodes and nothing to worry about, which put me into a panic. I couldn’t understand how so many lumps could appear and the doctor just says “no worries it’s fine, just forget about it.”

The thing is, I have lymph nodes I can feel all over my body, and these don’t feel like lymph nodes at all. They are softer, more uneven and moveable. I did some research online and I found multiple doctors and people saying that there aren’t any lymph nodes in that area of the body?! Is this correct? Because now I don’t know what to believe. None the less, I am absolutely terrified and no matter how much I try to calm myself down I just can’t stop fixating on it. Does anyone else have lumps such as these on their lower back?

  • ha u sound like me i touch it everytime and reckon thats why its hurting . i will deffo get it removed as dont like it at all my gp isnt concerned at all i send him pics when i found it as was lockdown send him several picture and said if he is worried he will get back to me but from what it sounds is like lipoma fat tissue . • just seen about wrist i have one but very hard one on left wrist

  • Got these lumps , which are painful, both sides of my lower back and both sides of my abdomen and a large lump under my breast central above my stomach. Over 10 years back in had a lump removed from my forearm which was very visible and causing a lot of pain in my work.  So recently seen my GP about these visible and painful lumps, his quick advice was use ibuprofen blah blah. And it would cause more pain removing them.!

  • Hi everyone, its soo comforting reading your all stories. So about 2 years ago I noticed 2 slipperly bumps over my dimples, didnt think much of it until about 2 months ago when I noticed I have about 4 more of them all kind of sizes. I got soo concerned with them I cant stop touching them to see if they growing. They hurt when I bend down or sit up for too long, like while driving. Went to see a dr, out of hours, ( very young one, which I presumed she didn't have much experience with these kind of stuff?) she couldn't find them at first. Took her good 10mins to locate the biggest one and she looked confused, said she didn't know where to send me as it was about 5cm in size and quite hard. That have sent my health anxiety through the roof to the point I cant sleep I cant eat. I constantly think of my son and husband what if worst to happen. I have another appointment coming in 2 days which my gp said he wanted to feel them for himself before he sends me for a scan. Now I could swear they growing but might be just swollen from me constantly touching them? Give me some advice guys, Im seriously struggling here.

  • Oh and may I also add, the pain is more like burning sensation. Its hard to describe it? I do feel like it goes on to my bottom too, but more like tingling on the top of my cheeks rather than aching. God I really do hope it's nothing serious

  • Yes. I'm recently the same after my lower back started aching during prolonged sitting. I have a roughly 5cm (maybe bigger) long, very smooth but rock hard lump on my right lower back around the top of my pelvic bone. It doesn't move and with enough pressure I can dig my fingers down all sides of it. It doesn't hurt. I have a flatter one on my left side almost mirroring location but not size. It's less noticible and not as defined. My GP is so hard to get an appointment. I've had mine with sitting aching for roughly 6 weeks now. If it is Cancer, surely it'd be too big to care about treating now? Isn't 4cm or more stage 4 anyway? I have asperger's and talking to GPs is not easy for me to do.

  • Hi did you manage to get an appointment with doctor? I was very panicking over mine so eventually seen my gp which said he isnt worried and in his opinion its fatty lumps but for my peace of mind will send me for ultrasound so he referred me to bone/sarcoma clinic? Now I dont know if he wanted to speed it up and exaggerated it a bit or did he think it was cancerous indeed. Fair to say Im loosing my mind while waiting for the scan.

  • Hello, did you get your scan? What was it in the end?

  • Hi I had a appointment followed by ultrasound with bone sarcoma cancer dr and he told me it's nothing to worry about as its herniated fatty tissues that sit on my bones hance why it feels soo hard and unmovable. And because i have lost weight recently i only now discovered them but told me as long as it doesn't bother me too much or grow too big it's nothing to worry about. So basically its back mice and It was visible on ultrasound too which some people say it doesnt.

  • Thanks for the answer!

I have had the same thing for a while, I have about two or three pairs of hard, but moveable lumps on my lower back. Sounds a lot like yours. I have an ultrasound in a week or so, so I am hoping for the best aswell. Do yours mirror eachother, as in they are bilateral? Mine do, and I'm hoping it's not cancer since I presume cancer doesn't really work that way?

Glad to hear you got the all clear tho!
