HPV POSITIVE AND HIGH GRADE

Hi

I had my smear last Wednesday and week later I’ve had my results back confirmed HPV and high grade dysaryosis, cytology appotment is Monday 17th  I can’t sleep and am a bit emotional! im also very angry with myself 30 years old mother of three and never had a smear (not because I was scared just life was busy, I forgot to keep booking and I’m a idiot) anyone had any experience with this? I cant help but think the worst! For months I’ve had heavy periods sometimes clots, and pretty much 80 percent of the time there’s light bloody on tissue, I’ve had lower back pain for months and hip pain that comes and goes? Are these a sign? I’m driving myself mad!

Hey I am in similar situation my cells went from low to medium to high CIN, I have had 4 Lletz treatments done in very short spaces of time the last one was done on the 9 December 2020 since then I have had light bleeding every day since it's much heavier during and after sex I hand recently started having a dull ache in my lower back, and down my leg I'm 33 no children I'm scared out of mind that it's going to be bad news I rang my consultant nurse and she is sending out appointment I also have  HPV. I hope you get better results and everything is settling down x

  • Hi , sharon was wondering,  the same as the last girl currently diagnosed way cin 3 , but I have been having severe leg pain back pain and burning in my hips , am really worried as I have 4 children age 10 , 7, 12, and 17 months old , have appointment now on the 25th of march for the large loop excision,  just afraid that maybe the results from these may be cancer x do they test the tissue they remove from this x

  • Evening all, reading through this thread as I got my smear results last Thursday. HPV plus abnormal cells plus severe Dyskosis (probably spelt wrong). Last smear three years ago was normal so totally freaking out. I'm booked in for a coloscopy on Saturday morning and have a horrible feeling it isn't going to be good news.

if anyone else can offer any words of advice or has been in a similar position and can share their story I'd really appreciate it.  I feel like the more knowledge I have the better!

    thank you x

  • Hi all,

Jumping on here as reading through the posts have been so helpful.!

I stupidly missed a couple of smears (8 years since last one), finally had one around April. Results came back showing high risk HPV with high grade dyskosis. I had an appointment sent through which was only 3 days away from receipt of the letter. My head was absolutely all over! Had no idea what was going on or what to expect.

Attended colposcopy on Tuesday 4th June, was totally not ready. Had the wrong underwear on and tight jeans on durrr! But I had no idea they would perform the LLETZ then and there. I was petrified! I was given a local anaesthetic which made my legs shakey. But the proceedure itself was totally fine, I barely felt a thing. After an hour of waiting afterwards I drove home.

for me, the hardest part has been the aftermath. First the Orangey discharge then the smelly black stuff. And constantly wearing sanitary towels which I hate. I feel like I smell all the time, always spraying perfume. I have been bloated much more, tired and irritable.
Now waiting for results of the biopsy, I'm not even sure what exactly I'm meant to expect?

It's been mentally draining so far. And totally feeling everyone's pain. A mum of 3 boys - 5, 10 and 14.

Anyway, that's my experience so far xx

  • Hi sazzyk

Hopefully the results from the LLETZ treatment will be to confirm that the abnormal cells have been removed and that nothing else has been found. Take care to let your cervix heal by not using tampons, having sex etc, but I presume your doctor will have advised you of all of that.xx

  • Hey ladies reading thru all your posts hope yous are all well. I had my smear in June came back HPV positive and abnormal cells, so today I had my colposcopy appointment. They told me I had high risk cin3 before they even looked at me so decided to do the loop treatment there and then. She said she has got everything away and also done 3 biopsies. She said results will be back in 2 or 3 weeks. She a letter will be sent to me and my gp and if they need to see me they will put it in the letter if they dont need to see me they send an appointment in 6 months for a smear. But I watched the screen and my cervix did not look good at all x

  • Hi Doc86

my day went pretty much like yours though I can't remember is she said CIN2 or 3. When I looked at the screen by cervix was about half covered in abnormal cells but she said she things she managed to LLETZ it all. It's also been sent to biopsy but said I wouldn't hear anything for 5 week .
I'm curious to know if these cells are precancerous or if that's something that can only be found with the biopsy. I don't really know how this all works and I think that's why I keep freaking myself out.
hope the wait isn't too long for you, and you get the results you hope for!

    steph x

  • Hi Doc

I’m not sure I’ve ever known what my cervix looked like and I didn’t look at the screen! So I wouldn’t know what didn’t look good or did look good is my point. Hopefully the treatment will have been successful and all the abnormal cells have been removed with clear margins, but the biopsies are the only way to confirm the diagnosis and waiting for that can be a bit difficult. Do come back and let us know how things go, and if you need any further help please just ask. x

  • Hey steph, I'm in Ireland so I'm not sure if our wait is shorter but to be honest I thought I'd be waiting weeks as I know a few had long waits but my nurse said 2 weeks I should have had word. I'm praying all is clear in biopsy.... but they were whispering about the pictures and all they took when i was getting changed which kinda made me feel nerves that they might have seen something and I know they cant say anything until results come back incase there wrong..... hopefully you dont have long to wait on results did you just get yours done today aswel?

  • Hi Steph

It’s only the biopsy which can give a definite answer to your question. CIN2-3 is pre cancerous cells, and hopefully the biopsy will confirm that. The treatment is usually extremely effective, so do focus on that. I appreciate it’s a long time to wait, but try not to worry too much about this in the meantime. x
