HPV POSITIVE AND HIGH GRADE

Hi

I had my smear last Wednesday and week later I’ve had my results back confirmed HPV and high grade dysaryosis, cytology appotment is Monday 17th  I can’t sleep and am a bit emotional! im also very angry with myself 30 years old mother of three and never had a smear (not because I was scared just life was busy, I forgot to keep booking and I’m a idiot) anyone had any experience with this? I cant help but think the worst! For months I’ve had heavy periods sometimes clots, and pretty much 80 percent of the time there’s light bloody on tissue, I’ve had lower back pain for months and hip pain that comes and goes? Are these a sign? I’m driving myself mad!

  • & about the cell removal I did say to the nurse I will probably have to be put to sleep! But she said I dealt with the coloscopy great & she thinks I will be fine just under general anaesthetic but I think other wise lol so I’m in 2 minds of what to do about that xx

  • Well I recieved my biopsy results back today & I was quite astonished to find the the results were CIN 2 as the nurse said it defiantly looked like CIN 3 it’s a lot better news than what I was expecting!! I’m booked in at 25.39 on 31st December for a loop excision biopsy so not entirely out of the woods as yet but feeling a little more positive for a change!!

Sharon & Rosie how are you both getting on?

Wishing u all a very merry Xmas & happy new year girls xxx

  • That's positive news!  Are u going to have loop done in theatre? My follow up for scans appointment is tomorrow. I'm going to have a few drinks today as didn't have a proper drink yesterday, had 2 drinks allday as wasn't feeling up to it.good luck for your lletz x

  • Hi Sharon, to be honest I would prefer to be asleep through the procedure but all the letter says it to b at hospital for 3.30 for loop excision biopsy! I’m assuming if I was wanting to be put to sleep I would have to be in before then as it will make the appointment longer.. do you think I should maybe ring and ask them as I really don’t want to get it under local anaesthetic even tho the biopsy wasn’t bad & I dealt with it well just thought of knowing what they are doing this time I think I would rather be fast asleep lol

i know what you mean it’s been a quiet Xmas for us me & my partner just had a pyjama day & got our dinners delivered off his gran :) I still didint feel up to been around every one!

But hope you enjoy your festive drinks this evening!! & wishing you all the luck for tomorrow, keep us updated hunni & take care xxx

  • Yes sounds like yours will be done under local not general as mine was general and couldnt eat after 6pm night before and couldnt drink anything after 6am because of being put to sleep. Maybe call them and say u would rather be asleep for procedure. I had my results yesterday and scans are clear, booked in on 22nd Jan for a radical hysterectomy. It's weird as I'm not worrying as of yet about the op I just want it gone and to be given the all clear,I'm lucky that I had my children young as I'm only 31 so having hysterectomy doesn't affect me massively in that way.just praying for clear margins after op.

  • Hi Sharon,

That's really good news your scans are all clear!!! I bet that's put your mind at rest a little bit! :)

I had my loop excision yesterday Had it under local & wasn't really bad tbh!

I had 2 surgeons & 2 nurses in with me & one of the surgeon's said it's exactly wat he expected severe dyskarosis which I already knew.. but he said he's had to remove quite substantial amount of my cervix & go a lot deeper than anticipated... I asked him if he thought there was cancer & all he said was he can’t answer that & hopefully he has got it all but if not & there’s something there we will cross that bridge when we come to it! So not very reassuring & said the loop results will take 4 weeks!! Did yours take that long? xxx

  • Hi I had loop done and they had to go deeper than expected, they removed just over 1cm deep which showed the tumour on results. had results 10 days later, another consultant appointment to find out results.fingers crossed for you.

  • Sorry to jump on,  I'm looking for reassurance too, family say things will be ok.

Last year in may I had my smear, low grade.

Re done in early june this year, 4 week later on the monday had my results showing boarderline abnormalities. Monday I received my appointment to follow up for this thursday 11th.

After reading your posts (sorry nosey) I agree with symptoms of pelvic, back, leg and heavier periods, clots too. I suffer with my back anyway so put it down to that, I need to wee and hurts my bladder. This has been happening about 9 months plus. I have seen dr, no infection in urine, swabs shown B,V infection. But still the same, I gave up. But this explains alot.

So would like to thank you all. I'm still scared as my friend passed away at age 29 with cervical cancer, so that will always be there

  • I've got similar to you. Was just sent a letter confirming hpv positive and colopscopy in 4 weeks. No leaflet or call from Dr to say about it and really stressed and having to find all my answers online. Had at least 9 water infections last year, each time being put on antibiotics as lower back pain for over a year now. If i find out all my other symptoms are linked to hpv then more knowledge is needed by the g.p's and a smear test should be offered rather than waiting for my 3 felt one. Good luck with your journey in this. I'm 45yrs old and a mother of 1. I still feel in shock as not a common thing to discuss and lots of concerns with the cancer link but trying to remain upbeat until I find out more. Information all round with this is the key. I've already started to take supplements, vitamins and eat better to give myself the best chance of getting rid of this virus!

  • Hi Jane, how did your test etc go?
I have similar at the moment. I'd had lower back/hip and abdomen pain for a while, so I spoke to doctors about it. My doctor just referred me to a physio for the hip pain, she focused on me working at a desk and seemed to ignore my other symptoms of discharge etc. The physio has requested a hip X-ray. Whilst this was goin in I'd organised my smear test just to double check things. My smear came back hpv positive and abnormal cells so now have the colonoscopy appointment in September.Just a little worried it is something more(my mum died of cancer within 6 weeks last year so it's scary knowing how quickly things change). And feel the doctors an physio/smear probably aren't linking up.
