Breast lump

Hi I found a breast lump last week I went to my doctor today who gave me antibiotics as I have a temperature. Is it possible it is just an infection. The doctor looked concered when I mentioned being unable to sleep due to back and rib pain. But just gave antibiotics and said to come back if there is no change. Is this normal or is it just because i'm only 22 they want to rule out other possabilities before sending me for tests?

  • Hello bertie645,

Welcome to the forum! I am sorry to hear you have a temperature and are on antibiotics at the moment. I think the best thing to do is to follow your doctor's advice and take the antibiotics and see whether they kick in and if you feel better once you have completed the course. If you are worried about anything, do ask your doctor I am sure they will be able to answer any questions you have on this.

I hope the antibiotics kick in soon and that your back and rib pain go soon too and if problems persist make sure you talk to your GP about it.

Best wishes and get well soon

  • Hello im just wondering if you have any updates in your situation. I have a breast lump. Currently waiting a scan.

(i didnt think anything of it until i read that you have rib pain - i do too!!)

    Hope youre okay x

  • Hi Bertie,

I had a really bad breast infection once that required multiple rounds of antibiotics, and went away after over two months. I had to call the doctor daily. Hopefully it will clear up quickly. They may do a mammogram after the infection is gone.

I just found a new breast lump too. Waiting to go in tomorrow.

    I hope you heal quickly!
