Lower abdo and pelvic pain

Hi good morning. I came across this page after looking for some advice / reassurance somewhere! I have been experiencing lower abdominal and pelvic pain, more to left side around my ovary for around 5 months. It used to be a pain that I could cope with , can only describe like an irratating toothache pain that would ease if i took painkillers. Recently its became worse that the pain is constant, its making me miserable and find it hard to concentrate on tasks because its just taking over me. Ive also had some back pain and a dragging pulling pain in the back of my legs. I become so bloated at times i can only fit into my old maternity jeans. I also have shooting pains inside. It was first put down to scar tissue attached to my bowel as I had a C-section in june2017 but i have never had any bowel issues. Now its taking my gp weeks to give me a pelvic examination, I was asked to go for a smear and now refered for a pelvic ultrasound? After googling my symptoms my anxiety has became worse and my mood has became low, I am just wondering if anyone has had any symptoms or pain the same and what the outcome was? Im 32 and never experienced any pain like this.Kx

  • Hello ga1986

Sorry to hear that you've been experiencing these problems over the last few months.

It sounds as if your GP is being proactive in sending you for an ultrasound and hopefully this will help shed some light on what is going on for you.

I know lots of members here will not their head knowingly when I say that Dr Google is not always a reliable source! There is a lot of incorrect information available on the internet (and also good info), however using Google to search your symptoms won't give you any firm answers so do try to stay away.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long now for your scan. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi ga1986

i have the same symptoms.  Came on suddenly in November. Been to the doctor who said the lower left pain was muscular. When I lay flat and he prodded around I couldn’t complain of pain however when she reach up or twist it feels like something is about to burst. The pain can also be felt on my right lower side and lower back.  Was given cocodamol on 5th Nov but go back on Monday as pain has worsened.

I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in September 2016 which followed a year of treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. I have now had 2 follow up mammograms which are clear which iM so thankful for.  I am forever on edge though when something doesn’t feel right.  I was advised by my consultant at the time that if symptoms don’t go away after 6 weeks go back to the doctor so I am doing.   I hope you are feeling better now and these symptoms we have been experiencing are temporary.

  • Hi ga1986 I was just wondering if you had any update... I have symptoms identical almost to yours... thanks

  • Hello,

    Hope you are well.

I am having very similar pelvic pain on left side of ovary at the moment. Had clear mammogram after breast cancer last year and after last period had a dull ache where ovary cyst was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago. Pain went away now and back again, it's not really a pain but awareness dull ache. Trying not to panic about it, have a follow up ultrasound in January.

    thanks
