Breast lump with dull arm ache... is this normal?

Hi everyone,

This forum has been really helpful to me from finding a lump to having my appointment and needle biopsy. My question that i have that I can’t seem to find an answer to is, has anyone else experienced a horrible dull ache in the arm that is the same side as the lump? This has been happening more over the last two weeks and I also get the same dull ache in my lower leg on the same side. Also (probably has nothing to do with it) but a weak feeling and heavy feeling at the back/base of my head. I’m trying not to look too much into it but as its all the same side as the lump, I’m starting to panic. They said biopsy results should be 2-3 weeks. Will I find out sooner if it’s not good news? I’m 37 with 3 children and am finding it hard to act normal and not show I’m panicked about something x

    Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that your appointment at the breast clinic was so perfunctory and not at all reassuring. We all know our own bodies best, so I am glad to hear that you have persisted and, that you are now waiting for a MRI. Hopefully this won't find anything sinister either. Some people have naturally lumpy breasts - let's hope that you are one of them.

Do please update us wnen you get your results. In the meantime, I've got my fingers crossed for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi [@Sameds1992]‍

i am experiencing the same as you I think.

I have thickening of the breast tissue on my right breast, under my right armpit and also an aching heavy feeling tingling on and off in my right arm. I am petrified and quite frankly don’t know what to do with myself.

    did you get a diagnosis?

I hope you was all clear.

    thank you

    @Tinkerbell13

  • Hi [@Tinkerbell13]‍

I took my self off to the doctors and she said i defo needed to go to the hospital.

Within 2 weeks they got me into the breast clinic, they dont an ultrasound scan and this came back fine. The doctor said she was glad i came to the clinic as there was 3 lumps in my breast but these were all swollen glands that had gone hard. Nothing needs to be done with them. They said they would rather me come back time and time again if im worried than not at all.

Get down to the doctors its the best thing ive done, they also give you the results on the day.

    Hi Ren,

I haven't seen any posts from you since April and just wondered how your trip to the breast clinic went.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you so much Sam for your fast response.

did you have thickening of the breast tissue and of the armpit?

Im really hoping i get the same results as you.

My arm has been aching now for months, and I just put it down to strain but now the doctors have found the thickness I am really really worried this is a result of mets to the bone.

i am only 29 years old and I am so scared.

    thank you once again.

    Hi Tinkerbell,

I am sorry to hear about your breast issues. Have you seen a doctor about them and, have you got a diagnosis yet?

This is always a scary time, but worry doesn't alter the diagnosis unfortunately. I sincerely hope that you don't find anything untoward.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi [@Jolamine]‍

    thank you for your message!

i have seen multiple doctors and I had blood tests taken which came back normal with no infection.

i have a heaviness and aching in my right arm it’s been there quite a long time and I have just put this down to strain.

the doctors have referred me to The Royal Marsden for an ultrasound as they are worried about a thicking of breast tissue on my right breast and underarm.

i am just really scared about it being terminal and having spread to my bones as I have an ache at the bottom of my neck and inbetween my shoulder blades too.

very very stressed as you can most likely tell.

have you ever had anything similar?

    Thank you

    Hi Tinkerbell,

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 10 years.  I had a lumpectomy first time around and a double mastectomy a year later, so I know just how stressful all this can be.

I am glad to hear that you have been referred for further investigation. We all tend to think the worst when we are waiting for a diagnosis. Fortunately, this seldom turns out to be the case. An interesting statastic is that of every 10 people referred to the breast clinic, only 1 will have cancer.

I was told that breast cancer doesn't usually feel sore. In fact many people are totally unaware of it until after diagnosis.

I hope that your appointment comes through soon and that there will be a simpler explanation than you are visualising.

Please let us know how you get on.

We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi, so sorry for late reply. I had the results just before Christmas. After 2 biopsy’s and then lymph nodes needed. Investigation.... I got the all clear! It’s a fibrodemia (forgive spelling) they are happy to leave it there for now. How did you get on? Xx

  •

    Hi Donmac,

Thank you for your update. I am so happy for you. You couldn't get any better news  and, just in time for Christmas too.

I hope that you continue to examine your breasts regularly and, that you don't find anything untoward again.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
