Lung tugging

Hi. Last week I was called by my GP a few hours after a chest x-ray for chest pain to be told that o have an area of tugging on my left lung. He said this would account for my chest and arm pain. I am 37, have stupidly smoked for about 18 years on and off, about 5 a day. I was told to go for bloods last Friday which I did. Yesterday I was told I needed an urgent ct today. I am going this afternoon. I am so frightened. I have no idea What tugging means bit I know I am following the suspicion of cancer pathway. Has anyone heard this term before?

My Dad died at 50 with oesophageal cancer and I am so frightened. I have constant reflux problems. I have had nightmares constantly when I can sleep. I have no appt to see anyone or find out what they are investigating or suspect. Any help would be appreciated.. I have 3 young children and a teen who has already lost 3 grandparents and uncle and her dad to cancer in the last 14 years..

  • Hi Bubblebat,

I can see our nurses replied to a similar post your made about this in their section of the forum the other day, but now you've had the CT scan I just thought I would check in to see how you got on.

I do hope you were able to get some clarification on what tugging means and that you're feeling slightly more at ease with what is going on.

It is scary when finding out you're being referred for tests but you're not alone. So many of our members have been in similar situations and will know what you're going through at the moment and hopefully you will hear from some of them soon.

I'll have my fingers crossed for good news when the results come back from your scan.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi [@Bubblebat]‍ I hope you are doing fine. I came across your post as I am experiencing similar symptoms to yours (chest pain plus coughing) and I am just looking for some answers in here...

would be lovely to hear from you.

I am 39, mum of two young children.

So scared to go to the doctors.
