I do not see why they do not use stronger pain relief as the system they use just now does not work for all

I will never have this done again now as it is traumatising.. the pain, the prep and the stigma of yelling like a baby while others just sail through it.

I had a Colonoscopy this morning and I found the whole thing fine.

It was my second time to go through it and this one was easier than the last time.

One difference I noticed was that I was given Morphine as the drug of choice for pain relief with my Colonoscopy today. I am wondering if that would help any of you who have such a hard time with this preocedure? Ask for Morphine instead of the usual painkiller they offer at your hospital.

The sedation worked fine and I was in and out of consciousness but, never felt a twinge while awake. I feel so sorry for anybody who dreads having this procedure done as it is vital for cancer screening. I hope this tip helps. By the way, I am in Dublin, Ireland and the hospital I was a patient in uses Morphine as standard for Colonoscopy procedures.

I had the strongest pain relief they can give...Fentanyl...It has 5,000 times the potency of heroin and 10,000 times the potency of morphine....but i was still in so much pain. No one has been able to explain this to me
