Small lump in the middle of my chest

I have a small lump in the middle of my chest it is totally painless but it has gotten a little bigger over the past two years, I don’t know what it actually is, I don’t think it’s anything serious but does anyone know?

    Hi Tasha,

A very warm welcome to Cancer Chat. I am sorry to hear that you have discovered a small lump in your chest. I am not a doctor, but have had 2 bouts of breast cancer. I found both lumps myself and neither seemed serious, but I was glad that I got them checked out.

Nobody can tell whether or not this is anything serious until tests are carried out. If it is something untoward, the earlier you catch it, the better your chances are.

My advice is to make an appointment with your GP as soon as you can. If s/he suspects anything suspicious s/he will refer you to a consultant, who will carry out tests.  Contrary to general opinion, Cancer is not normally painful.

I sincerely hope that this doesn't turn out to be anything serious, but you are better safe than sorry.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Mw,

I am sorry to hear about your lump. Have you been to see your GP yet? This should be your first port of call.

We are not doctors here, merely other cancer pilgrims. There are many different types of cancer and it is impossible to tell what you have until tests are done.

I do hope that all turns out well, as not all lumps are cancerous, but better to get it checked out.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
