CIN3 cells, lots of bleeding, pain and swollen cervix

Hi,

I’m 31 and had my first smear 6 months ago (which I know is bad!) as I was always too scared.

After my smear I had bleeding and pain, I was then told I had CIN3 cells and had to go for a colposcopy. I had the biopsy and cells removed with a wire ring, I was told my cervix was covered in them.  I was in so much agony for a couple of weeks afterwards and had to get tablets from the doctors to stop the bleeding. Results were they were pre-cancerous and to come back for a smear in 6 months.

Ive gone back today for my smear and the nurse said my cervix was very inflamed and bleeding and has referred me back to hospital. I’ve been in a lot of pain and had bleeding again since the smear this morning. I’ve also been having dull pain in my cervix for the past month or so.

I’d just like some advice as in every other case I’ve read they haven’t had the severe pain like I’ve had. It seems quite likely I’ll have to have the cells removed again as the nurse could see them just by looking, does this mean I could need a hysterectomy?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

  • Hi Amelia t I know this is an old post but your symptoms sound a little like mine, I went for a smear and the nurse saw something on the cervix which was bleeding, I had gone to the doctors because of a couple of spots and abdominal pain, I went for coloscopy and was told i had a really angry infection, I've been on antibiotics for 2 weeks because the fist lot didn't clear it, 3 days after finishing antibiotics the pain is back and I'm in agony today, I've also got ct scan next week because she thought it could be something sinister as my cervix looked so bad, can I ask how long it took your infection to clear up x

  • Hi all

I hadn't been for a smear for years! For the same reason (too scared of that metal contraption)......not scared anymore! They can give me a smear every week if they want.

i went to my doctor in March as I was getting pains below, felt like I was sitting on a golf ball for months and things just didn't feel right down there. Doctor came in after nurse examined and said it looked like a pelvic prolapse but they took a smear.

within a few weeks I was shocked to see I had high HPV and abnormal cells. Such a worrying time for any woman to deal with especially being young or having kids.

then had the colop at the clinic, dr was lovely he explained he would probably remove the cells there and then. That didn't happen! He opted to do a biopsy instead! That freaked me out bcos I felt reassured at the beginning! After 5 weeks of waiting they said I had high grade CIN3 cells! Had to go back! Had them removed in august!

m still not received my letter which is an absolute disgrace, I decided to phone a few weeks ago and was told all cells were removed! It was such a relief!

just waiting for the letter now to tell me otherwise! My cervix was feeling fine after removal and just this week it's now feeling like it did before the cells were removed! Really inflamed.... a woman knows her body!

try not to worry too much that's all I can say! I was a complete mess all that waiting! But it is a relief to know now that it has been picked up that I'm in the right hands and I will be checked every 6 months.

love to all you ladies xxx
