Hey all, 

I’m a 24 year old female and have recently been having some worrying symptoms which I’m starting to get concerned about.

I’ve always had a bit of a sporadic menstrual cycle and sometimes can go 40+ days without a period. Last year I went to the GP about this and had blood tests which came back normal, I was told that that’s ‘just the way I am’ and to deal with it or go on the contraceptive pill, which I declined. 

I’m still having irregular periods, and started spotting towards the end of July which continued most days for a few weeks before I got fed up and went to the GP again on 7th August. The GP did a cervical smear which also came back normaI (just with a cervical ectropion). I continued to spot and eventually this turned into full bleeding which I assumed was my period finally coming, this lasted 2 and a half weeks. I then had a few days without spotting but it then started again and I seem to have red blood most times I have a bowel movement (definitely from my vagina) and more throughout the day. 

This is obviously irritating because I never know if I should be wearing a pad or not but my main concern now is that I’m having symptoms of uterine cancer. I know I’m very young but my GP just doesn’t seem to be taking this seriously and isn’t giving me any actual indication of what may be causing this  

I guess my question is - is this normal or should I be pushing for further tests? I’ve got a form to change GP as I have moved and unsure if perhaps I should book an appointment to try and get further tests done.

Sorry for the long psot, but It’s really causing me a lot of anxiety at the moment!
