Am i going mad

Hi there.

For the last 16 months i have had 2 lymph nodes enlarged on either side of my neck.

I have had many blood tests, 3 ultrasounds, a ct scan of head and neck, and 2 fine needle biopsys of the largest node. I am stil convinced i have cancer. Even though i am told they are reactive. Am i pushing this too far?

Please anyone to give any advice i would much appreciate it. I am 23 years old.

  • Hello marcymarc.  No you are not going mad - you are just being a normal human being who like most of us worries about things even when all the evidence tells us all is well.  The trouble is that these worries can obsess us and stop us living a normal life.  If we were going out, doing things and  getting on with life generally we would be feeling a lot better.  To be honest I am not sure where you should go if you want help to get over this but I would seriously suggest you push yourself to get on with the things that a 23 year old should be enjoying - then I think the fears in your mind will start to drop away.  I can only speak from personal experience - I feel better if I get myself out, walk the dog, interact with others and take an interest in their concerns.   Best wishes.  Annie

  • Hi Marcymarc,

i am a 20 year old girl, who has currently got a swollen lymph node in the left side of my neck under my jaw, which is painless and moveable. I also have no other symptoms of illness apart from my ears being blocked every other day or so. I’ve had this swollen lymph node for about 3 weeks now.

The last two days the lower half of the left side of my. Sick is feeling swollen, with a pressure type feeling. I am still waiting for an appointment with an ENT.

I have health anxiety so every single day is full of worry and dread. Despite you having all the tests done and not having lymphoma or cancer, did they ever explain why your lymph nodes were swollen if you didn’t have cancer and weren’t ill?

    Many thanks x

  • Hi, how are you doing now? What did it turn out to be?
