Waiting for biopsy results - Uterine Cancer

I have just started the agonising wait for results. Had a hysteroscopy on Saturday and was told it should be 2 weeks. I am quite a strong person but this is going to be hard. Of course I know that it could be fine but I went to my GP in January and it is now April. Even if the results are clear I still have to have all the polyps removed under a 'general'.

  • Hi I am also a mother to 3 aged 19,18 and 14 ..I am 43 always had heavy periods and have endometriosis but recently have suffered such bad bleeding i cannot literally leave the loo! Went to docs who gave me progesterone tablets which slowed it down and she referred me for scan.Scan showed a polyp and fibriod 5 months later I eventually got an appointment to see a consultant at hospital who referred me for a biopsy and camera.I had that done today and the consultant said he would try and fit a mirena coil too. After looking he said the front of my womb was very lumpy so he decided against the coil and after seeing the lady stood next to me facial expressions it terrified me! Obviously now i just have to wait which is the worst.I do not have a very supportive partner he is not very sympathetic at all! All very scary! Good luck to all you ladies going through the same thing x

  • Hi,

this is my first time posting. I had a hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy was taken. I had it done because there's found fluid in my womb lining on a recent scan. Has anyone else been told they had fluid and what was the outcome.

    thankyou x

  • Hello I'm at the beginning stages of this just wondering how your results were ? I had scan and says thickening of womb and polyp I have a biopsy booked for Tuesday and really scared

  • Hey Kerry how did you get on? I'm similar to yourself 37 year old mam of 3 and have a 18mm polyp seen on ultrasound. Booked in 17th of Aug for removal of the polyp and D&C under general anaesthetic. Worried sick

  • Hello I had the procedure today it was painless slight discomfort but fine , ended up no polyp there but thickening of womb she took a biopsy but said everything looked fine , so waiting on results now but fingers crossed biopsy comes back ok ! She said everything looked fine , and I'm bleeding now and slight pain , but she said that would happen , I know it's worrying, I've made my self sick with worry last few weeks , so try not to worry and I hope this helps a little ! As I googled constantly and that made me worry more ,  slightly feel more settled, if thats makes sense , just my fingers crossed for results now x

  • Thanks Kerry glad you are feeling a bit better I kept thinking that I will feel better too once I have the procedure as they may know more themselves what they are looking at even before the histology comes back. I keep thinking I'm sure I will feel more reassured when I come around from the anaesthetic and he can say what he thinks it is

  • The not knowing is the worse , I'm 37 4 kids , I have had irregular bleeding heavy bleeding, but what prompted me to go to doctors was I starred to bleed after intercourse and slight lower back tummy pain , it's horrible time for husband too , hope you are getting lots of surport but try not to worry , I had a bad day yesterday worrying about the results, worrying just makes things seem 100 times worse ! Thinking of you and let me know how you get on , I know it's just chat but it helps x

  • It's defo helps talking to someone who knows what you are going through. I'm not really talking too much to my husband about it coz I don't want him to know I am worried. I just said to him I'm sure it's just a polyp as women my age very rarely get endometrial cancer! Fingers crossed that's all it is. My periods are just really heavy. I did have bleeding after intercourse whilst I was breast feeding and I was having strange discharge too but it hasn't happened again since my periods came back. I had my tubes removed during my section 11 months ago too so was hoping the heavy periods were related to that as it's common after that procedure. I also have just recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and my gp said before I had the ultrasound that it's prob what's causing the heavy periods but then the gynae consultant said the hypo thyroid is prob just a red herring and he feels the heavy periods are down to the polyp! All these possibilities just playing around in my mind

  • hi not been on here for a while but my periods continued to be heavy lasting  3/4 weeks or more for ever flooding through my clothing was put on medication for it which did help but didnt want to contnue with medication for ever because i couldnt use any contraception because ive had hormonal breast cancer, so had a hysteroscopy done one without anesthetic which when i tell you you could probably hear my screams from the other side of the world i have never experianced pain like it, but because they never got enough fluid off had to be done again under genreral anesthetic all come back normal and nothing to worry about, i had read about endometrial ablation and so i asked my consultant for one one consultant said yes no problem but another consultant all but refused  said i had to many trips to hospital and anesthetic i suppose to put my body through such stress again, i refused to back down had the endometial abaltion done a year ago in november this year and im happy to say ive not had a bleed since last july now but im abit older than some of you ladies on here,  now i just have to concentrate on getting my 5yrs remission out of the way. good look to all you ladies on here. helen

  • You should definitely talk to someone about your worry's don't keep it bottled up I've done that and it builds up and gets worse, but if you just need a chat on here , that's fine too what Eva helps you ! Yes there a few things that can cause these symptoms but we always think the worse , but fingers crossed it's not that's the main thing , try to keep busy , write if u just need a chat I found it helps , xx
