CA125 raised levels

This week I went to see my GP with perimenopausall issues. I mentioned to him that I feel my stomach up to my ribs is bloated and tight and feels uncomfortable.  He said he would add some further tests to the hormone bloods to mark for any tumours.  And a pelvic and stomach ultrasound wodo be ordered as well. Within 24 hours y bloods came back abnormal raised at 59. I am now on 2 week pathway to see gynae and have further tests. Peopl keep trying to reassure me that it might not be the big C but as I read more I realise I have been experiencing Ovarian cancer symptoms but thought it was just me putting on weight.

All my our bloods came back normal including the hormones which are strange as I havery multiple menopausal symptoms that are ruined the quality of my life.

I am 46 and am going crazy having to wait.

  • I'm so happy I found this forum . I promised myself I  wouldn't Google but 8 came across this and I feel a bit less worried. I'm 50 and been experiencing bloating lower back ache indigestion lots of on off gas . very tired all the time and just thought it was perimenapause . I had my bloods done a few months ago and my c125 came back at 42 so I had a scan to check my ovaries and insert scan to check inside too. All came back normal . I only just got my gynecologist appointment yesterday after waiting oveg a year and my new blood tests came back at 53 for my c125 .Im very worried and annoyed too as the nurse said she would phone me if  there ewas any concerns. Good job i phoned and the cancellation appointment came up . Hopefully I will be fine I will keep you posted . Thankyou to everyone on here we all need to be strong and big hugs to you all x

  • Hi ladies

Just wondering any updates as I have ca125 202 and 16cm mass so worried going out my head waiting on ct scan then surgery hope it's not cancer.

  • Hi can I just ask where you heard bowel inflammation can cause increase levels of CA125? I'm 31, currently in hopistal with agonising stomach pain, a CA125 test result of 79,  history of PCOS and a stole sample that came with showing inflammation in my bowel.

extenely worried as I have two young daughters xxx

  • My own GP said that ca125 cause be raised for ibs bowel inflammation. Lots of things can raised it. Even pcos or being near or on your period. Try not to worry I'm sure it's nothing serious.

  • Thank you for responding, it's greatly appreciated. I just had an ultrasound which showed a bulky right ovary(exactly where the pain is) with a 2cm cyst. This combined with the high level of CA125 has frightened me so much I am convinced it's cancer. I've to come back in 4 weeks for repeat scan. I'm just so upset because I just hoped they wouldn't find anything

  • That the reason for your for your slight raised levels.  and it from a cyst from your pcos: don't worry they prob want you back in 4 weeks to see if the cyst has gone. The doctor said to me they would be more concerned if my number where's in the high hundreds. Ca125 is not a

stand alone test because anything can raised levels. And you have a cyst.
