CA125 raised levels

This week I went to see my GP with perimenopausall issues. I mentioned to him that I feel my stomach up to my ribs is bloated and tight and feels uncomfortable.  He said he would add some further tests to the hormone bloods to mark for any tumours.  And a pelvic and stomach ultrasound wodo be ordered as well. Within 24 hours y bloods came back abnormal raised at 59. I am now on 2 week pathway to see gynae and have further tests. Peopl keep trying to reassure me that it might not be the big C but as I read more I realise I have been experiencing Ovarian cancer symptoms but thought it was just me putting on weight.

All my our bloods came back normal including the hormones which are strange as I havery multiple menopausal symptoms that are ruined the quality of my life.

I am 46 and am going crazy having to wait.

  • Hello,

just wondered if there was any update on your symptoms since this post? I'm going through similar at the moment

  • Hi ,

I am in a very similar situation to all of you girls:(

did my CA 125 tests and it come back as 51. My ultrasound and MRI is clear. I have Dermoid cyst on my overy but everywhere it says there is no connection between levels of CA 125 and dermoid cyst.

however, my question is has any of you have tested home rapid CA125 tests? Are they relable has anyone tried them ?

    thanks

    ilona

  • Hi everyone, so I'm 33 soon to be 34, I was admitted in to hospital 3 weeks ago with left abdominal pain! Have ongoing issue with reoccurring kidney infections.  My CA125 level came back at 420, and following some scans and a 2 week turn around I was in hospital 5 days ago to have ovary removed they could see only see a small 7cm cyst / possible tumor! After surgery I was advised nothing had been removed and they had checked qll

Areas of womb etc and thankfully no cancer was detected  / no areas looked effected.  Now I have to wait 6 weeks to be seen again, my CA125 level since opp have dropped down to 230 but still high and I'm trying not to worry as I got the all clear for ovarian cancer really but the question is why the massive increase? Up to 35 would be the norm ! I'm trying not still worry but it's hard I've a little boy only 6 I just want to be confident that I am ok! Has anyone ever had anything like this before? Thanks Sinead

  • My ca125 is 420, I have had an ultrasound and a fibroid 10cm was seen and an ovarian cyst 1cm, they are doing a ct scan and a womb biopsy, I'm very worried. But so far all is ok, but its knocked me sideways.  I'm not sure a ca125 test is the best thing on.the planet.

  • Hi IM838

I haven't done a home test but my blood results came back two days after going to local hospital for blood tests so it was fast.

    hope you're ok.

  • Hi just reaching out for some advice/clarity

my mum recently got diagnosed with endometrial cancer stage 2/3 and has had a successful surgery done. They removed some of her lymph nodes as they were cancerous too and then we were under the impression that she was having chemo only for precaution reasons. After her second dose of chemo it became clear that there must still be cancer but her levels have reduced from 15 to 13. I would like to know why she has the CA 125 cancer marker after she has had a full hysterectomy?also what experiences do others have with these levels?

mum is mid 60's and very healthy

just breaks my heart....hate asking her about it as we can't accompany her into appointments because of Covid

  • Hello Formummy

    hope you well

my mummy is in a similar position to your mum. My mums cancer is also in her lymph nodes ... it reappeared after her hysterectomy about4 years ago..

ive sent you a friend request if you wish to chat

sending you and your mum lots of good wishes xxxx ♥️♥️

  • I have raised CA125 number 50 I had a call back from bloods yesterday and was told I couid have ovarian cancer . I've had problems with my left groin and hip and back and struggled to walk for a few months and the pain is getting worse . I'm worried. I'm waiting for further tests I'm hoping it might be cysts causing the pain

  • Hello how are you?

I thought I'll reply to your post. I am in the same boat. Scans shows no cyst but fibroids which I'm already aware. Dr says the ca125 is high than what a fibroid should make and have been referred for mri scan.

have you had your mri scan? What was the outcome pls? I'm worried scared.

     Thank you

  • Hi just wondering was pcos that cause for the raise in ur levels mine are raised I had a scan last year which said 'bulky' ovaries
