Ovarian cyst,can this cause irregular bleeding?

Hi everyone, 

I have had gyne problems from the last 6 months   but a week ago I had my follow up appointment moved forward as he found a 6cm cyst on my left ovary. I have had pain I  the left side for 2 years which has gradually got worse. I am in pain everyday and varies constantly but I have a constant period like pain day in day out. I have experienced irregular periods for several years but I am now on Yasmin to completely suppress my periods as I have querying endometriosis which has affected my bowel making it distended on the left side. I have been taking this for 3 -4 weeks and had no problems but this week I have started spotting and having a pink discharge. I find intercourse very painful so this doesn't happen very often but I have started to bleed during/after intercourse amd bleed from long walking or strenuous activities, is this normal from a cyst? Has anybody else experienced something similar

    Hi Danielle. I have similar but am still awaiting review so don't have any answers. 

    I have had constant right sided abdominal pain for 4 months. Had an ultrasound scan which showed a small 3cm right ovarian cyst. And had spotting between periods and bleeding after sex so had colposcopy and biopsy which showed endometriosis. I was surprised by this as have no other typical symptoms. 

    My GP has referred me to gynae but I've booked a private colorectal appointment for next week as I'm worried about my bowel - I have constant right sided pain at the level of my belly button, like a dull ache that now is spreading round the side towards my back, and it's worse on movement. When pressing i can feel my bowel all the way up on the right side. I'm terrified it's bowel cancer.

    I'm not sure cysts would cause your bleeding but could it be the pill? Or endo on the cervix like me? And endo and cysts can both cause pain

    What are your bowel endo symptoms if you don't mind me asking?

    Sorry to hear what you are going through, the symptoms are very similar, I may take a trip to my GP for a check up of the cervix, I had CIN3 in August and removed half of my cervix to remove it but thought that issue may be resolved. I to thought my pill but I have been on it for several weeks and no problems, I was on one identical but been given one slightly better so I am doubting it is the pill, us women are so confusing. It's easier said than done but try not to worry yourself until they investigate more, I have my appointment for my bowel 22nd Jan, my bowel is bulging out on the left hand side so querying endometriosis of the bowel or partial blockage, this was only found during surgery I had in October for a different problem so nothing was done for the bowel during surgery. I suffer from ibs so all my symptoms bowel related I put down to that. My bowel movements go from constipation to loose and I have server bloating but I'm unsure weather it's my bowel or cysts. I to can get the feeling of to full even from a small meal some days are worse and I can feel almost pressure, maybe a colonoscopy could explore it a little more for you but. I wish I could give you more answers but I'm still under investigation as he can't determain what is causing me all the pain and because I'm under specialist my GP cant do much . I hope you appointment goes well X

    Thanks for your reply. 

    I had a call from the secretary today to say the clinic is cancelled :( and now I'll have to wait until Tuesday to even book another which will probably be another few weeks away. I'm so worried and upset! 

    It's  interesting you say your bowel is bulging - can you feel it if you press? I can feel my bowel on the right all the way from my hip to my ribs and I can feel some ?bowel next to my belly button.

    Oh no sorry to here, although you dread the appointments you just want them to come fast to resolve it don't you. 

    And yes it depends though,I found this out during my last surgery and the pictures visibly show my bowel distended, my gyne thinks it's caused by endometriosis and my bowel is kinda stuck to my pelvis somehow, looks like a little balloon, I'm guessing when I suffer with constipation etc it gets worse. Ive been quite ill the last few days with my pelvis which has made me constipated and now my stomach is sore to touch I can feel how bloated it is all the way along the bottom.

    It's really frustrating because of the 2 problems he can't tell me just yet if my problem is gyne or my bowel but I have to wait until the 31st until I know what is happening.

    Hi. Everyone. 

    I am knew on here and I have read all ur comments. My cyst is 5.5cm and having my third scan next month. I am in constant pain like a dull ache on my left side. Also I have noticed clear gunk when I go to the toilet. No bleeding. Only having 2 day periods and have taken bloods to check for cancer but that came back all clear. They don’t seem to be in a hurry to remove it. Does anyone know how big they leave b4 removing them x

    Hi. 

    I had a cyst a few years ago and it grew as big as a grapefruit but I was in constant pain and just kept going back and getting scans done every 6months then over a year later they removed it because it was getting bigger and causing me so much pain. I have now recently found out I have another one on my right ovary but I only found it out because I'm having trouble eating I have constant nausea and completely shattered. My stomach is like a balloon most of the time and recently getting pains on my right side near my belly button and I'm struggling to eat because it makes me feel worse. GP has no idea what's wrong and doesn't know if to send me to a gynacologist or to go for an endoscopy..

    Hi 

    I was just wondering what you updates were on this situation. As I have had a large cyst removed in the past and a new one has just been found I think 2-3cm I have the same symptoms as you and my second scan is ap the 11th however I'm not prepared to wait indefinitely for an op in this kind of pain.

    Hi I have a similar  problem  to you I have a cyst on my ovary  10x10cm and haven't had a period for 2 years but started bleeding  heavily. I am also being sick alot of the time and like you just don't  feel  like eating because  my stomach  has ballooned  up so I'm awaiting an appointment  to see a gynacologist. So my heart goes out to you because it's  not pleasant  feeling sick all the time I hope everything  gets sorted for you asap.

    Also the last month my breasts have been very tender and I can't  touch them they are very sore and swollen and have been leaking a bit which they haven't done for 21 years cause my kids are 23 and 22 this year.

    I literally word for word have exactly the same issues as you. Was told there is nothing to worry about at Gynae app. Even though I have a family history of Breast, Ovarian and Pancreatic cancer. 
     

    I know this was a long time ago now and I hope you are well. But any advice what be appreciated.
