Right sided bowel cancer

Hi,

I'm hoping to hear other people's experiences with symptoms and bring diagnosed with right sided bowel cancer, if possible.

I am 32, so I don't think my GP is taking me seriously.

I had a colonoscopy 2years ago for a change in bowel habit and intermittent swelling in the right lower abdomen, after seeing a private surgeon. It was normal and biopsies normal too. Very reassuring at the time. I've been well since then until 5 months ago when I developed a constant pain in the right hand side. It is pretty much always there, a dull ache, and much worse when I'm moving around, and I can feel a sensation of fullness there in the area of pain. I can also now feel my right side colon all the way up to my ribs which is new. The last few days I've had a stabbing pain around my liver and collar bone too.

I know it must be hard for those with diagnoses to try to answer and reassure us worriers, and it is really helpful and kind.

I just hate being brushed off because I'm young.

Going to see a private colorectal surgeon again in 2 weeks which is next available, which will be worth every penny.

  • Yes It’s Exactly The Same Pain... Exactly! I Go (And Still Do) From Being Ever So Slightly Constipated To Normal And Then Maybe Sometimes A Little Softer Than Usual (Sorry For Too Much Information). I Get Heartburn Very Rarely Now After Taking The Lansoprazole. Have You Thought Of Maybe Cutting Things Out That You Think May Be A Trigger, Or Things That Maybe Alter Your Bowel Movements. Mines Coffee, I Literally Have To Run To The Toilet After And Sometimes If I Have A Little Too Much Of Something That Discomfort Starts To Come Back So I Then Know To Eat Bland Foods And It Seems To Have Sorted The Problem Out. I Really Do Hope You Get It Sorted, I Never Once Thought Mine Could Be Down To Food... Well I’ve Put It Down To That Anyway. As I Say Mine Only Subsided After I Had Followed The Diet. What Have They Done Test Wise For You? Have They Told You What They Think It Might Be? Keep Me Updated If You Can xxx

  • Hi Guys,

Hope everyone is well. Seems colon issues are very high in the UK from what I have been told and I too have been suffering for the last 5 months. My journey is similar to the above many GP and A&E trips, a colonoscopy where they found some ulcers and still waiting for results since having my colonoscopy early December.

Still have a throbbing pain and think it might be due to food. Any one else get a definitive answer back from their checks/docs/results?

    Cheers guys.

  • Hi everyone,

I thought I would post as I am having horrendous right sided back rib pain and am very worried about it.

I've had scans, bloods, endoscopy and all came back clear apart from a hiatus hernia. GP says hernia shouldn't be causing the back pain. I am taking omeprazole, cyclizine and buscopan as I am in pain, have terrible heartburn and feel sick all the time. Also taking cocodamol and ibuprofen more recently for the pain.

I'm not sure what to do next. The pain is like a dull ache stitch like pain. If anyone can give me any advice on what to do next I would appreciate it.

  • Hello I have exactly the same pain in the same place your experienceing, did you get to the bottom of it?

  • Hello I have a pain below my right rib every day all different times of the day, I'm so worried as they have found blood in my stool test he said it's only slightly raised but it's stillraised, every other test I've have done has come back normal which is more worrying because the pain isnt diverticulitis or chrones or anything like that

  • Hello. Did you have a reply from Tad? Has your situation resolved now?

  • I'm in a similar position myself! Right sided pain where my small bowel probably is. Right rib pain going into right shoulder. I also have swollen lymph nodes in the right of my neck and below my right collarbone.

ive lost 4 stone in 5 months I'm so scared. Did anyone experience drastic weight loss from any of the IBS/IBD issues you've had? I've no idea why I would have one sided lymph nodes enlarged so high up!

all tests have came back with just a gallstone, some fatty liver which I'm told shouldn't cause issues. My CRP averages around 8-10 and my ESR is double what it should be. All other blood works are generally fine. My lymphocyte count is slightly lower than average and I've had some blood tests with slight decrease in red blood cells and some blood tests with normal red blood cells

nobody seems to know what to do with me I haven't had a colonoscopy yet. I've had a CT scan, liver ultrasound and liver MRI. Keep getting told my CRP isn't high enough for cancer but nobody can explain the weight loss and I'm petrified I'm running out of time with how fast it's coming off. I'm losing near 1lb a day now

I've had a celiac blood panel which was negative

  • Hi,

Did u get to the bottom of this? Im experiencing sometjinf v similar. Pain in right side with a lump which tjey think is inflamed bowel and pain in rib. Ive had bloods, mri, ultra sounds, and jusy recently colonoscopy which are all coming back clear. So v confusing?! X

  • I have read all the posts above and have this right sided pain under the ribs. Its a dull ache sometimes and sometimes just a short sharp pain , sometimes its a soreness, its really weird.

I have always had this achness but since Lockdown its increased. Its not a pain by which i need pain killers but i think the fear of the unknown is more dangerous for us who want to know .I had the normal scan of the area which showed nothing was wrong. I had a stool test showing nothing as far as Blood or elivated anything or abnormal. The blood tests were also fine[ apart from slightly elivated cholestrol. ] Then the Gastro said to do a Colonoscopy which i am afraid of doing so want to ask for a MRI. I just cant get my head around having one, although i guess if i am cornered i will.

I had a diagnosis from a Bioresonance procedure which involves frequency diagnosis for all who believe and it showed i must be allergic to gluten wheat and milk. [ Which is all foods i love to eat] . I must say i have no real constipation issues as in been stuck for a long time but when i do go they are mostly formed. On occassions i will get a bout of looseness with loads of wind and quite explosive. To be true thats not unusual for me . No sick feeling at all either.

I was thinking to look into the FOD MAP diet and see if that will help. I dont know about u all but i have this idea that this pain will explode inside and i have left it for too long and feel bad to be so afraid. Its a lousy feeling . I hope you all manage to find a way to feel better and please do share how u have recovered please  regards  xxxx

    THANKS

Hope you find info to share with us

  • Hi Chris, i've just read your symptoms and they sound very close to mine. Do you feel the pain moves around aswell?  mine moves from my back, to right flank, to pelvis.
I was convinced of liver issues for months, stopped drinking, stopped runing to see if it was musular, and after three months its still with me.  The only differenec i see is I have nausea most days now.

Ive had bloods, CT, MRi, Ultrasound and Fibroscan... all that was found was mild fatty liver and very high cholestoral (strange considering my diet is good to excellent and BMI is 25)

What they have scheduled for me next is Scopes at both ends !  and i've figured i should have that to rule out finally - or find anyting sinister.   My symptoms have been exactly a year this week.. its been a battle getting answers during Covid...

    cheers.
