Dull aching in right leg

Hiya,

My name is Emma, im 18 and am getting concerned about pains in my right leg.

As I can recall, I've been getting the pain for about a year or so but it isn't constant, it comes about every couple of months or so. I started to think this might not be quite right last week when I got the pain again (it's like a really heavy, dull ache which feels deep, in my bone rather than muscular and resembles an intense sort of growing pain). It came on in the evening and continued into the night, keeping me awake until the early hours of the morning. It doesn't seem to be affected with movement, if anything it is worse when I'm still or laying in bed. The bulk of the pain was in my thigh nearish my knee but it radiated down my leg then a bit into my pelvis.

I'm hoping to book an appointment with the GP soon but fear they may just overlook it as muscluar or no important as it's not constant. But I'm getting pretty worried about it as there is no obvious reason for this pain at all, I haven't injured my leg and surely I'm past the age of growing pains now, equally I've always known growing pains to affect both legs rather than one.

I'd be grateful if anyone can help with suggestions or their own personal expereicences, thank you!

Emma

    Hi Millsy,

    Welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear about the pain that you are experiencing in your legs. I am not a medic, but it sounds as if these could be due to circulation. It is a good idea to make an appointment with your GP to get this checked out.
Please let us know how you get on. We ae always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Joverona,

I am so sorry to hear that you are being kept awake by the pain, but I am glad to hear that your GP has referred you on.

I am not a doctor, but I would advise you that, if your legs continue to get sorer while you are waiting for your appointment, don't hesitate to get another emergency appointment with your GP or even go to A & E to get it checked out, just in case it is a circulatory problem. These need to be attended to quickly if they do crop up.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi all.

I've been reading all these posts and it all sounds so familiar. I've had terrible pain on the back of my left leg and 2 doctors reckon that it is a Bakers Cyst on the back of the knee. I had an X ray done and nothing showed up which was said to me might be the case as a MRI is the best move for this. I am now waiting on an appointment. I now have terrible pain from my thigh right down to my ankle. The reason why I reply to your posts is I see a lot of you saying that ye just went for an X ray and was told there is nothing wrong but an X ray does not show up everything ask the doctors to make an appointment for you to have an MRI this sees everything. If I have anymore news from my MRI I will let ye know.

    Good luck all.

  • Ok,  I am 47/8 years of age I believe I am very fit very keen cyclist and have been for 8 years.  I started to have just short pain towards my knee early last year.  It mainly affected me at night, I self-diagnosed and put it down to restless leg and kind of lived with it.  The pain slowly increased and was felt in my hip running the length of my left leg.   More recently the pain now is in both legs, whilst my cycling is not affected I am suffering more standing and in bed, I have had blood tests which are clear but yet to have xrays etc. Any views would certainly be welcomed

    Hi Diane,

Welcome to our community, although I'm sorry for the reason that you've joined. I do hope that your 2 doctors are right and that you have a Baker's cyst.

Do please let us know how your MRI goes. Do you have a date for it yet?
    Kind regards,

    Hi Simon,

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear about the pain in both of your legs. I am not a doctor, but just wondered whether or not you've been checked for Diabetes? Many people develop Type 2 Diabetes later in life and, this can result in neurological damage to the legs. Your GP can do a simple test for this.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Hi,

I've been having the same issue on my right leg. It's like the pain comes up and goes down near my feet. It's really uncomfortable. I've been having this for about 2 years and a few months, I have my physiotherapy appointment next month. I hope its nothing. My mum's mother, my grandma died of cancer. I'm just so scared that it could happen to me too. Everyone pray its nothing bad.

    HI Joemc,

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your legs too. Have you seen your GP with this? There is no point in worrying about this if you haven't.

Please contact your GP and set the ball rolling. You need to get this investigated.

Please stay in touch and let us know how you get on. We are aways here for you.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi guys,

Has anyone had any results from their tests?? I've been feeling a full pain in my right thigh for the last 2 months or so. I've been to my doc who referred me for an x-ray so I'm waiting on my results. I've read through this thread bit nobody seems to have posted any answers.

I'm 28 so im a bit freaked out by this. It's like a numb dull pain but sometimes slightly burning. My doc thought my right thigh was slightly swollen. Have any of you had any answers to your issues?
