Symptoms of bladder cancer in women

i have been to the doctors 4 times in as many weeks with blood in my urine. The doctor prescribed a course of antibiotics which didn't work so prescribed another which also didn't work. Results from the urine samples stated no infection in any of the samples so took the antibiotics unnecessarily. So the doc sent me to radiology to see whether I had kidney stones. The result were I didn't have kidney stones either. Week 4 all samples of urine have blood in them no infection and no kidney stones. Now bladder cancer has been mentioned and I'm back at hospital next week for further tests. Has anyone out there had similar or knows someone with similar results. Any feed back would be much appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi

I was just reading your post and I know it was a while ago now but I'm going through the same thing and tomorrow will insist on a referral being made  It's been going on for months and I practically have all the symptoms of bladder cancer with visible blood strands in my urine starting last week.

I was just wondering how you are now and if you got to the bottom of it. I hope you found another reason for your symptons other the bladder cancer.

  • I have been getting lower abnormal  pain since sun also bleeding from front done bloods give me phorphin for my pain told me to go doctors I did she set urine sample of and I am still in pain and know discharged coming know what do you think it can be

  • Hi buttery, are you sure it's not kidney stones you have?

  • Hi folks,

Just stumbled on this website while doing a search for information.  I'm also a female who had microscopic blood turning up in urine samples despite no infection.  I have symptoms of UTI...discomfort when passing water, lower back pain etc. I had Cystoscopy last week and consultant said I have red patches on bladder wall and will need TURBT to gain biopsy. I'm really scared now even though a ct scan showed  no masses etc. I'm 45 yrs old, had hysterectomy last year , and can't believe I'm facing this now.

Also just stumbled on this website. Today I underwent a cystoscopy in order to have Botox injections  [ also steroid and anaesthetic] Only the surgeon discovered a growth. He removed it, it is being sent to histology. He did not do the injections he said, for fear of spreading something nasty.

This would have been the second lot of Botox etc, presumably there was nothing else to see six months ago .I have been diagnosed with a very shrunken inflamed bladder, follicular cystitis, which I often take anti biotics for. Blood and proteins are usually found when my urine is tested, no infections. I suffer frequency and urge incontinence- the latter until the Botox. I have been suffering painful cystitis  for years, usually no infection was found so I got no treatment at local doctor's surgery'

The surgeon says he will see me again in a couple of months, meanwhile he has referred me to the specialist bladder cancer nurse. But I won't see her  to know what is going on or the test results for about 4 weeks. Is it a good thing that they aren't really rushing me through? Maybe it will change when they do the biopsy, i don't know how long that will take.

    I am worried.

    I would welcome comments.

  • Hi Flowers65

i too had an ultrasound and cystoscopy yesterday following continuous microscopic traces of blood in my urine. No confirmed infection..

Yet during my cystoscopy yesterday they have found a raised area on the wall of my bladder. Nothing was really said to me apart from I will be required to have a biopsy done under general anaesthetic. The dr advised I will be hearing within the month and not to worry myself. It wasn’t mentioned If it looked like anything sinister or infection. Just not to worry myself. Well..... I’ve worried myself stupid and still am. I am also 45 and I just feel that the older I’m getting the more likely I am to have something nasty.

Just a waiting game now to receive the appt to go in for the biopsy x

  • Hi have always had cystitis for about 30 years, always had blood  at its worst point, latest urine test showed no infection so have to have tests, so u bleed all the while with bladder cancer, no weight loss or loss of appetite no back pain but very scared, could the infection have been missed

  • Hi all,

I've been reading lots and lots of things online (which I know people always say not to do), however it's gotten to the point now where I am begging for answers and reading stuff online almost gives me some sort of idea what's going on, even if it's not the correct answers I need.

March 2019 water infections / kidney infection began to take over my life. And gradually have been worse and worse since , I have AT LEAST 1 infection a month, I have taken a lot of antibiotics & I am currently fighting my way through a kidney infection. It's been full blown !!! Off work for 2 days so far, on the phone to 111 etc, it's been BAD! I've had blood in my urine, back pain, tummy pain, constant feeling of needing the toilet, I've been sick, my bladder is just IN PAIN. I just want answers !!!!
im waiting for an ultrasound appointment to come through, which should hopefully be in the next few months, but doctors are also saying they're thinking about putting me on a low dose of antibiotics every day, to prevent it?!

could anyone help??? I'm so down, I get very upset and frustrated with it all.. should I be worried? Not worried ?

someobe please tell me you're going through / have been through what I've been through?! Am I worrying for no reason?!

    thank you

    Lou x

  • Hi, the exact same thing happened to me last week they found a growth that wasn't there 12 months ago and I had to have a biopsy. I am awaiting results and was just wondering how yours turned out?

  • Hi, my mother's found herself In exactly the same dilemma yesterday. She was told to go on her holiday next week and on her return in a fortnight appointments will be in place. Good luck
