I hope you dont mind me following this thread. Mel i hope everythings ok.

I found a lump about a month ago, i had a breast scan, biopsy, and mammogram. They could only find the one hard lump and didnt seem concernes, but i had the biopsy and told they would phone me with the results, only that didnt happen and ive ended up chasing it quite alot only to be told last week by a breast nurse that there was a concern with my results so i have to go back to the breast clinic on the 29th (this monday). I am worried sick and thinking the worst, its so hard not knowing. Has anyone else had this but been ok?

Im 34 but have a family history of BC...xc

I am sorry to hear that you have had such bother getting your test results, but glad to hear that you now have an appointment for Monday. Most of us find waiting for results one of the most stressful times of our cancer journey - there are so many unknowns at this stage.

I hope that you are taking someone along with you to your appointment. This is always a good idea. It is also helpful to draw up a list of questions for the consultant before each appointment. Of all the peple referred to the breast clinic only 1 person in 10 referred will have cancer, so the odds are pretty good.

If the worst happens and you do have a positive result, your outcome will depend upon what type of breast cancer you have and what grade it is. There are other tests which have probably been carried out on your biopsy sample. These will determine other facts such as whether the tumour will react to hormone therapy and what the possibility is of re-growth. The results of these tests usually take a little longer.

Breast cancer is one of the more treatable forms of cancer these days. I too have a history of breast cancer in the family, having lost both parents to it. However, I was diagnosed 9 years ago and had a second cancer the following year. First time around I had a lumpectomy followed by Tamoxifen. The second time I had a double mastectomy followed by Letrozole for 6 years. I finished taking this in July 2017.

The waiting is deffo hard, one min im feeling fine, then emotional and then angry. Im annoyed because its like one minute im told they think its all fine and the next they are being so vague.. its confussing. Roll on monday tho? Id be interested to know if anyone else was told their biopsy results were concerning but were actually fine?

There are a number of people on this site who were told that their biopsies were suspect, yet who ended up with clear scans.You are on the emotional rollercoaster which we all experience with this disease. We all tend to turn into angry, emotional wrecksto begin with.

Hopefully, you will feel better about things after your appointment on Monday.

i too am waiting my biopsy results. I go Tuesday 30th and am like you, on a rollercoaster of emotions. I thought I was being positive, but havnt got out of bed today. I didn’t have a lump. Just a small area  that wasn’t on my other breast- a blob, she said (havnt a clue what that means)

i really want to believe it will all  be ok, but am preparing myself for bad news at the same time. 

Never thought i would ever find myself wishing my weekend away.

Thank you for your reply Sudi, i also find myself wishing this weekend away as i just want to know where i stand. Have you been told anything about your biopsy results over the phone or anything yet?.. also how long ago did you have your biopsy?.. I had mine done over 2 weeks ago.. (i also had a breast ultra sound and a mammogram) they said they would phone me if all ok and no need to book an appointment, but i ended up chasing them to be told that my results were concerning so they booked me in. Its all been a rollercoaster here too...xx

I had my biopsy done on Tuesday 24th, along with three mammograms and two ultrasounds (she couldn’t find what she saw on the original mammogram on the ultrasound) so I was in and out of the X-ray room. 

My problem showed on a routine mammogram, I didn’t find a lump, or even think I would need to go again.

I was told in a leaflet that came with my recall appointment that if I needed a biopsy, I would get my results the following week. I don’t think my clinic phone anyone, you have to go back for the results, even if they are good, and you don’t need any further treatment.   

As you can see, I’m awake, worried, when I should be asleep.

fingers crossed we will both get good results , and have a good weekend after next week. 

Please let me know how you go on Monday, and I will do the same after my appointment on Tuesday, even if I get good results.
