Worried. I have testicular cancer, tender hard lump three years

Hello guys, first time poster! I'm from United Kingdom, hello once again.

Cut a long story short, three years ago I noticed a tiny hard lump on my right testicle. The size of a pinhead. In the space of three years, The lump has tripled in size. Around one month ago I have been getting bizarre symptoms. My right testicle is very tender to touch, I have complete loss of appetite, dull aching sensation in my lower back. And slight shortness of breath. Slight stinging sensation when passing water and Ejaculation. Please note I have received a number of ultrasounds over the space of three years and have a number of cysts in both epidermis... My concern is the lump on my right testicle was never detected in the ultrasounds.. Last year I did see a urologist and he did feel the lump, and confirmed it was on the surface of the testicle, he was under the impression it was a cyst. Although he did not do an ultrasound... I recently went to accident and emergency due to my pain and symptoms and now awaiting emergency ultrasound and emergency urology referral.. I have also had and urine sample taken which has come back clear.

I have a few questions. If anyone could answer...

Is it possible the ultrasound was unable to detect the lump because it was too small?

When a testicle is infected with cancer does the whole testicle show up as a solid mass?

If my next ultrasound is unable to detect the lump. What should I do?

Is it still possible to have a cancerous lump which is unable to be detected, even though the testicle looks completely normal on ultrasound?

I'm really concerned, because I have had the lump for three years now and only recently been getting these symptoms. I guess all I can do now is wait for the ultrasound and urology appointment, which is 2 or 3 weeks away

I recently had an ultrasound on my stomach because I damaged my abdominal muscle belly in a sporting injury, I don't suppose that would find any abnormalities in a stomach region with regards to the organs?

it's probably worth mentioning also, my left leg has been going completely numb on and off, for the past two days... I'm slightly concerned because I'm pretty sure it's connected towards the back pain... Some type of compression on the nerves?

Apologies for this poorly constructed message, I'm using a voice recognition program to control my PC because I have repetitive strain injury on both arms
. Thanks very much!!
  • seen my local GP today. she seemed to think it was not attached to testicle. she also said it is far too small. However i do not think she said exactly what it is or i never took it in. says my lymph nodes are fine. good to get peace of mind.

  • I have had the same problem lately symptoms have been happening for over a month, been to a&e and been for a scan they said I had a cyst in the left testical that shouldn’t be causing pain but my pain has been on the right, very sharp pains wich have been travelling up my right side and my right foot has been going numb. I can feel the lump in the same place as yours but it’s way to sore to touch now. It’s making life a misery and feels like it’s never going to end I don’t want to go back to a&e as I feel they can’t do anything I’ve been 3 times. Do you know anything this can ease the pain??

  • I always found that I would constantly touch the lump which in turn made the area extremely sensitive. In my experience, A&E can't really help in this area, unless it was a testicle torsion. ideally, you should go back to your GP and get referred to urology. In the meantime, maybe suggest another ultrasound for peace of mind. My pain was related to an epididymis infection though, the constant worrying certainly heighten my symptoms. Try stay calm and go back to your GP - urology is your best option.

  • Thanks for the reply mate, seen a few urologist in the beginning the said it was epididymitis, after finishing antibiotics I went back as the pain was still getting worse they said there was no sign of infection but the scan picked up a cist in the other testicle but not the right, I’m going to go back to doctor tomorrow and see if they can refer me to another scan but the pains getting that bad it feels like it’s going to burst! Going to mention that tomorrow, how long did it take for your pain to go away may I ask?

  • Have you had a cystoscope (camera in the bladder )? Not sure if I previously mentioned this, but I also had kidney stones - one was so large that it was stuck in my bladder for a number of years (5 years ) which in turn caused my infections and pain. I would definitely ask for another scan. In all hoesntly, it might be worth asking to be referred to a specialist urologist - you can get referred to any hosptial in the UK. As mentioned, The pain and infections lasted on and off for about 5 years! But, I think the kidney stones were the main culprit. And they lumps / cysts were just getting more sensitive due to constant inspections (worrying) and infections. In the meantime, ibuprofen and lots of water! Good luck for tomorrow!

  • Hi everyone.

I had a doctor check what appeared to be a tiny lump on my left testicle around 3 years ago now; the conclusion was at the time that it wasn't anything to worry about. Over the last 6-12 months I've noticed a numbness in my thigh which has made my leg feel weak occasionally when I walk and a lower back pain around my waist on the same side. It's interesting to me that previous comments in this thread described similar symptoms. As the tiny lump I have has grown slightly larger over the last year I feel compelled to investigate further and will be making an appointment tomorrow. I will share the outcome of my findings in due course.

Anyone reading this with similar concerns; try not to worry! But ALWAYS see your GP just in case, it's best practice!

    Take care everyone,

    Greg.

  • I’m a 20Yr old male, 75kg, 180cm, British Asian.

I irritated my epididymal cyst almost 4 weeks ago by touching it too much. My cyst inflammation and aching had greatly subsided over time. However, I masturbated about a week ago which caused some aching in the right testicle where the cyst is located and the groin and thighs. The day after masturbating, I moved some furniture and I feel even more aching and some new aching in the left side but I’m not sure why (the left testicle hurts less than the right). The pain has been reducing again. Do you have any idea why lifting the furniture could have also caused minor left testicle pain?I feel stupid and I’m really worried that I’ve caused permanent damage. Will the aching eventually go again as long as I rest, or have I made the condition chronic and will this affect my fertility? Also have I caused traumatic epididymitis?

    Thanks,

  • Epididymal cysts are easily aggravated! Definitely take it easy for the next couple of weeks. I would recommend using paracetamol and ibuprofen. Perhaps taking a warm bath each night will help soothe any aches and pain. Remember, touching the cyst will only cause further inflammation! If the pain continues, I would see your doctor and request an ultrasound. If the pain is excruciating I would go to hospital!

  • Best of luck! Definitely, would recommend an ultrasound!

  • Thanks. Do you think the repeated irritation has caused epididymitis. Once everything is healed will everything go back to how it was before or will the cyst be more sensitive? Do you have any idea why my left testicle started aching as well?
