Worried. I have testicular cancer, tender hard lump three years

Hello guys, first time poster! I'm from United Kingdom, hello once again.

Cut a long story short, three years ago I noticed a tiny hard lump on my right testicle. The size of a pinhead. In the space of three years, The lump has tripled in size. Around one month ago I have been getting bizarre symptoms. My right testicle is very tender to touch, I have complete loss of appetite, dull aching sensation in my lower back. And slight shortness of breath. Slight stinging sensation when passing water and Ejaculation. Please note I have received a number of ultrasounds over the space of three years and have a number of cysts in both epidermis... My concern is the lump on my right testicle was never detected in the ultrasounds.. Last year I did see a urologist and he did feel the lump, and confirmed it was on the surface of the testicle, he was under the impression it was a cyst. Although he did not do an ultrasound... I recently went to accident and emergency due to my pain and symptoms and now awaiting emergency ultrasound and emergency urology referral.. I have also had and urine sample taken which has come back clear.

I have a few questions. If anyone could answer...

Is it possible the ultrasound was unable to detect the lump because it was too small?

When a testicle is infected with cancer does the whole testicle show up as a solid mass?

If my next ultrasound is unable to detect the lump. What should I do?

Is it still possible to have a cancerous lump which is unable to be detected, even though the testicle looks completely normal on ultrasound?

I'm really concerned, because I have had the lump for three years now and only recently been getting these symptoms. I guess all I can do now is wait for the ultrasound and urology appointment, which is 2 or 3 weeks away

I recently had an ultrasound on my stomach because I damaged my abdominal muscle belly in a sporting injury, I don't suppose that would find any abnormalities in a stomach region with regards to the organs?

it's probably worth mentioning also, my left leg has been going completely numb on and off, for the past two days... I'm slightly concerned because I'm pretty sure it's connected towards the back pain... Some type of compression on the nerves?

Apologies for this poorly constructed message, I'm using a voice recognition program to control my PC because I have repetitive strain injury on both arms
. Thanks very much!!
  • Hello everyone, I had the ultrasound a few days ago, it's good news. Apparently the lump on the testicle is a cyst, also I have a rather tasty infection on both epididymis.. Which would probably explain why I was feeling sick, for the past three months.

Thank you everyone for posting on my thread, your support was much appreciated and helped me a great deal.

Kind regards and best wishes to you all

  • Hey I'm new to this site as well but I read ur post and what you have is exactly what I'm going through now last friday I had to have sergury to have my right testicle removed because the doctor was worried it was cancer after they got it out they ran tests on it and it was cancerous I am currently waiting for a cat scan to make sure it didn't leave the testicle and go anywhere els and mine was only in my body for a alittle over a month before they extracted it so I would definitely get several opinions on it you can never be to safe. I hope all will work out for you tho and ill keep you in my prayers
  • M8 did u find out what was wrong have had the same lump for near going on three years its about the size of a pea amy help would be good so scared 2 go to the doctora

  • Hello, as above, it is very important that you go seek medical advice. Your doctor will be the best person to to speak with. It has been nearly ten years since I posted in this thread and and the cyst hasn't got any bigger, however, sometimes it can get inflamed and painful! Once again, go see your doctor! Let us know how you get on!

  • So I have had two hardest lumps at the top of a testicle and it it's not painful or I have no terrible symptoms but don't really want to go to huge fuss going to the doctors right now as working for GCSEs this post has been going on for like 10 years now hope someone still on somewhere ahha

  • Hi Ethan,

I hope you are well. Please, contact your GP ASAP. It is incredibly important to be examined by your local GP. In most cases, they will send you off for an ultrasound for further investigation. I can completely understand that you may feel hesitant or nervous, however, seeking medical advice will put your mind at ease in the long run. I also think it would be very beneficial for you  if you speak with a family member, for support. I have a number of lumps and bumps on both testicle, which were initially alarming, however, each lump came back as cysts or inflamed epididymis. With this in mind, you must first contact your GP for further investigation.

    All the best,

    James
