Fits test <200

Hello I’m 29 and been having non stop diarrhoea for over 3 months and passing blood. My first fit test was negative and now been told today it’s over 200. Been sent for a colonoscopy urgently next week . Problem is my grabdma died 3 months ago from colon cancer . Now I’m really worried. Has anyone been through anything similar

  • Hello Littledannii

I'm sorry to hear that you recently lost your Grandma to colon cancer and that you've been dealing with some ongoing changes to your bowel habits, as well as passing blood. It's perfectly understandable that you're feeling worried at the moment.

It's good to know that you've been seeing your GP about these symptoms and that after some initial tests, they've now referred you for further investigation.

Try to keep in mind that the symptoms you've mentioned can be caused by many different things apart from cancer. If you've been passing blood in your stool, then it's understandable that your recent FIT test result was raised, and hopefully, when you see the specialists later this week, they will be able to give you some reassurance at the appointment.

In the meantime, if it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses, you're welcome to call them. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on later this week Littledannii. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
